Why Is President Trump Systematic Criticised By The Press And Media No Matter What He Does?
77 Answers
Had the previous President gone to the trouble of twice meeting the North Korean leader to try and come to some agreement over US sanctions and North Korean nuclear weapons, the press and media would have been praising him from the hilltops.
Notice also how the Guardian have chosen to call the President of the United States by his surname, yet have politely chosen to call the North Korean leader by his first name, Kim (how sweet of them)

Putting his embassy in Jerusalem was fine by me.
Stormy Daniels? Well she made some money and now the hounds are after Trump.
If he stands up instead of lieing down like Obama, he will do for me.

Theland - // Should we not separate Trumps personal life and business life, with what he has achieved for America and the West? //
It's not possible to do that Theland, and I am surprised at the naivety of such a suggestion.
Politicians do not exist in separate bubbles of what they do and who they are - the latter informs the former, and so it should.
People are entitled to integrity from their politicians. They rarely get it, but they are entitled to it, which brings me to -

Is that OK then? A serving president is embroiled in a situation he has been unable to deny involving himself and an adult film actress.
The issue is not that Ms. Daniels 'made some money', but that the money was allegedly paid to her by the President to buy her silence. That is one of the many and various reasons why the media are so hostile to President Trump - the vast majority of the situations in which he is criticised are entirely of his own construction.

naomi - // Bill Clinton didn't do badly from his little dalliance - but then he wasn't Mr Trump. He was Bill Clinton. ;o) //
In my view, Bill Clinton is every bit as odious an individual as Donald Trump.
The difference is, Bill Clinton is an experienced political operator who knows how to run on the barbed wire treadmill. Donald Trump is an innocent abroad, and is duly getting cut to pieces on his own personal treadmill, of his own naïve thin-skinned witless creation.

The beauty of Trump is his transparency. He has made several broad promises and spends more time diverting attention from his failures and lying about successes than he does leading his country.
He promised a wall, at somebody else's expense, but when Mexico didn't roll over he started a trade war and claimed it was his plan all along; that Mexico would not pay directly but through tariffs and taxes. Sadly, he failed to hoodwink Congress and is happy to throw federal employees under a bus to demonstrate his ability to throw tantrums. Far from showing decisiveness, he is following that much-loved EU habit of holding vote after vote until he gets the 'right' result.
He is draining the Washington swamp, as promised, but only by his former business associates getting exposed for lying and cheating, what he himself might call 'the art of the deal'. He might not have been caught himself, but the stench around him is so strong that he will be. Not the victim of a witch hunt, just a very naughty boy.
Now he has made a second pitch for the Nobel, furious that a Democrat got it but not him. He has messed up so badly in Syria that the only remaining extremist stronghold is the one area he declared free of them. He returned from Singapore congratulating himself on his achievements, seemingly oblivious to the fact that Kim was the only winner. Now he has gone to Vietnam and failed again.
This is where his true nature shows through. His world is composed entirely of and / or moments, good or bad outcomes. Where other politicians would be able to sift the wheat from the chaff, Trump throws them both out or keeps both. Failing to do any reading about the context on the peninsular, he thinks North Korea having nuclear weapons is bad. He puts that to Kim, who says "But our neighbours, North and South, have them. How can we be safe without?" Trump has no answer but knows he has stuffed up, so his response is to lie: "Kim said this but I said that". The lie is blatant; he simply switched roles, claiming Kim's stance as his own and vice versa. There is no way Kim would leave himself vulnerable to a nuclear-armed South Korea, but Trump could only see it in US:PDRK terms.
Trump is not criticised "no matter what he does". He is criticised precisely for what he does. He could do differently, but refuses. And there are enough pro-Trump media outlets that he is unable to consider the alternatives, because it is their criticism that he really fears.

The starting point, JF, would be your:
"He promised a wall, at somebody else's expense, but when Mexico didn't roll over he started a trade war and claimed it was his plan all along".
Two declared policies in his campaign were to build the wall and to have trade war. Renegotiating the Mexico/Canada thing, other trade arrangements and tariffs on China were there from the start. This was not a cynical deflection of failure as you have categorised it.
You weren't paying attention. Personally I believed in the wall and disliked the tariff stuff. But that's because I'm an old-fashioned guy who has been persuaded without any competence myself in the subject that free-trade is better than tariffs. I.e. opposed to JF/EU thinking.

If I might pick up the baton. You obviously 'know' a lot about the Korean peninsula, unlike Trump who doesn't bother reading about such things.
That's why you know the substance of the talks and where Trump is going wrong.
Now, without too much backtracking or double-talk, could you tell us how long S.Korea have had nuclear weapons and where you came across this revelation. (Pyongyang Times, perhaps)

The ‘wall’ was promised and agreed by Obama and previous presidents. You can bet your last $ the reason they are against it now is propaganda and because they HATE Trump more than doing the right thing.
But like a lot of politics once people have seen their first news flash that’s the opinion they keep regardless of truth.

/// President Trump honestly believes that his 'doing things differently' is a good thing - a measure of just how out of his depth he is in the world of politics. ///
Oh yes, our world of politics, don't go to the trouble of trying things differently, they just carry on in the time traditional way, no matter how wrong this can be for the common man and woman.

That is why the news section is so popular, without contributors like AH this section would become so boring.

//Conservative voices are actively shut down and limited. Conservative views are shouted down at any and every opportunity. //
How? Conservatives have Fox, the biggest news broadcaster in the USA. Rush Limbaugh does fine, Bill O'Reilly has a massive platform, as does Sean Hannity. So does Matt Drudge to a lesser extent. Then you have people like Steven Crowder and Alex Jones who make plenty of money from telling other people very loudly that they are being silenced or marginalised.
This cartoon always comes to my mind when I hear of people saying conservatives are somehow persecuted in the USA:
