Beginning on April Fool's Day, it will be compulsory to provide proof of age in order to watch online porn. Sites that don't do so will face a hefty fine and a UK ban.

Age verification will come in two ways: providing credit card details or buying a special ID card provided by AgeID.

The government says the change has been introduced to protect under-18s.

When you look at the power and money put into avoiding reductions on drugs like alcohol and tobacco, what on earth does anyone think the adult industry is going to do to protect its income streams, given that they have hundreds of millions more in disposable income to thwart any and every attempt to prevent access to their sites?
