Almost 80 years ago London's parents were evacuating their children to the safety of the English country side, now it would seem some are evacuating their children to the safety of Somalia and Kenya.

80 years ago, the choice for your children London OR Somalia........no brainer.......london despite the Luftwaffe.
Today....London OR Somalia?..........still London, but a more difficult decision.
Where is this less violent society that people often quote due to the abolition of corporal punishment in the 1980's.......I haven't seen any evidence?
ABers over the age of 70 years find it difficult to come to terms or understand life as we know it and live it today.

Sqad,
// Where is this less violent society that people often quote due to the abolition of corporal punishment in the 1980's //
Firstly, violent crime is lower than in the 1980s. Significantly so in some measures (see comparison below)

Secondly, there is no proof that the ending of corporal punishment has resulted in more crime. It has had no difference either way.

As you know Gromit, I have never been one for the veracity of statistics and i have tended to "fly by the seat of my pants" throughout my life, trusting my own evaluation of situations, sometimes i have been wrong, sometimes i have been right. However as far as knife crimes and violence is concerned i will back my own intuitions and stand by my statements in my post above.
Neat little graphs of yours, that they are.

i think governments skew statistics to suite there own agenda to keeps the plebs happy, every things tidy in the garden, nothing to see hear

ONS are Independent of whichever party is in Government,to ensure that the iformation it publishes is not biased or party political.
// We are independent of ministers and instead report through the UK Statistics Authority to Parliament and the devolved administrations of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. We are the executive office of the UK Statistics Authority, who are responsible for promoting and safeguarding the production and publication of official statistics which serve the public good. //

Lol.
The late Mikey loved qouting ONS. He was sooo damn sure confident that Labour would win the last G.E. Likewise polls dictated the referendum would be a remain majority vote ?
I believe Sqad is saying we can see with our own eyes and hear what is happening for ourselves without massaged statitics thrown at us.
Statistics are like a lamppost and only any use for a drunk who requires support but no use for illumination.

//somali parent sending somali children back to somali for god knows what reason
more sun, better education, they dont speak English there
god knows...//
Keep going long enough he may get there (but who knows with these bright guys?)
Cynics might suggest that the return to Mogadishu (in the case of young girls at least) is to find a knife rather than avoid one.
