Almost 80 years ago London's parents were evacuating their children to the safety of the English country side, now it would seem some are evacuating their children to the safety of Somalia and Kenya.

Which exposes the OP for the balloni it is. The UK is not more dangerous than Somali or Kenya (it has a quarter of their murder rates). A parent emigrating their child to a country with 4 times our murder rate is deluded.

Firstly, violent crime is lower than in the 1980s. Significantly so in some measures (see comparison below)

Secondly, there is no proof that the ending of corporal punishment has resulted in more crime. It has had no difference either way.

As you know Gromit, I have never been one for the veracity of statistics and i have tended to "fly by the seat of my pants" throughout my life, trusting my own evaluation of situations, sometimes i have been wrong, sometimes i have been right. However as far as knife crimes and violence is concerned i will back my own intuitions and stand by my statements in my post above.
