The amendment to the vote I mentioned yesterday has unexpectedly passed!

It’s not legally binding but it does mean that parliament has said “no deal is not an option - ever”

As you describe it, it's not a representative democracy. In fact it would be neither democratic (save between MPs) nor representative (save of themselves). You're describing an elite telling the rest what they want.
Eighty-six per cent of MPs were elected in 2017 on manifestos promising to honour the referendum result. Now Labour - helped by a handful of Tory Euro-zealots - have gone back on those promises. This goes beyond Brexit: they are delegitimising the British system of government.
I don't really see these as defeats for the government. There is no government as regards Brexit, there's just Theresa May and her deal.

They're defeats for her, inflicted on her by Parliament as a whole irrespective of party allegiance.

It wasn’t MPs who negotiated the deal.
Many Remain supporting MPs have undertaken to honour the result of the referendum by voting through the deal. It is UKIP style Brexit supporters who’ve largely sabotaged it, and possibly Brexit.
But the deal is *** & everyone knows it. It's BRINO, and 39 billion for nothing.
