How crucial have these losses been and could this be a reason for the increase in knife crime in the capital?

// to force new age youths into a militant service //

What exactly is a militant service?
Also hopefully in this age we won't need mass numbers of soldiers to be used as cannon fodder. You know.. because war is wrong and usually only politically driven or financially driven for oil so it's time to stop fighting other humans in my opinion.
Baldric, i meant that as in.. any military service
Naomi - I don't know any feral youths.

Regardless of unemployment levels...the cost of living has gone up.
For that was when Abbott lost any credibility she might otherwise have previously had. The election prior to her sending her son to a private school she was campaigning for local schools to be supported and, as Labour hates them, Grammar schools to be abolished. She then sent her son to a private school and in front of the cameras came out with her "I cannot defend the indefensible". Rather than being mealy-mouthed about it she would have been better off just simply stating the truth that whilst the local schools were good enough for the local kids, they weren't good enough for her child.

Despicable woman - and as a rule of thumb I tend to find anything that Abbott thinks is a good idea is actually bad idea and vice versa and anything she says should be roundly ignored. In fact, she's just simply best ignored.

I simply don't buy the idea that a lack of youth clubs has a direct effect, or indirect effect for that matter, on kids going out and stabbing each other. It is a leap too far. I was bored many times as a youth, and I've never been to a youth club, and yet I've managed to get through life without stabbing anybody.

Sorry baldric i thought you'd be able to decipher the therm "militant service" to mean military service
Must i remind people it takes a twisted soul to put a blade into another human body with the desire to cause harm. So unless the closure of youth clubs warped the young minds into becoming barbarians then i think there are other factors present.

I do however think it has an impact. Much like less plod.

No excuse. Not so many years ago most people were dirt poor but they didn't go out stabbing.

Military has nothing to do with militant, it is you who needs to check the definition spath and do so on a lot of other words you use as well.

@ 12:22, Therm would be a good one to start with.
OK, sorry baldric.
Naomi - like I said...they could play out.
I didnt need youth services when I was growing up in the sixties and seventies. We made our own entertainment without getting into trouble, we knew right from wrong.
Ummmm, these yobs are 'playing out'.

Spath.
Who filled the Gap in Operation Burberry, Dustman's strike,Ambulance Service strike? Who rescued stranded people in Somerset floods in amphibious craft? Who sent a large detachment of medics with an Isolation hospital to some God forsaken country to help E Bola victims?Who is called upon to build flood defences and fill sandbags, build bailey bridges ?
The best Trauma surgeons in the UK are now saving countless lives in Civilian hospitals because of new surgical skills learnt in the field hospitals and at Bastion.
You have no idea what our 'Militant' forces do for this country do you?
Instead of sitting on your backside all day on AB you could actually be taught a meaningful trade and be of some use.
Naomi at 12.26 is spot on.

My parents split up when I was 10 - I never saw my mother again.

My father was a lawyer but the break-up broke him and he never worked again until his premature death.

He tried his best with 4 kids, but we were ridiculously broke. I distinctly remember having no lights on in the house one evening so that we could watch Star Wars on our B&W TV and hoped that the money in the meter wouldn't run-out before the end of the film.

Neither me or any of my siblings have ever been in trouble.

Was it 16 - 18 year olds doing national service?
"You have no idea what our 'Militant' forces do for this country do you?
"

Pretty sure i do.

I never said there wasn't a need for the military.. i said there wasn't a need to fight other humans.
"Instead of sitting on your backside all day on AB you could actually be taught a meaningful trade and be of some use."

Does that make you feel like your point has more gravity? ;)
