A very nice left wing friend of mine who works in the Civil Service has always said the one person he dreads getting the job of PM for the Cons is Gove because he has brains, is clever, charming, and would be good at it. This from a staunch left winger who works with these people at the highest level. I've mentioned him before on here, he strongly disliked May saying...
Hahahahaha...well I'd like to see Michael Gove or Jacob Rees-Mogg ('cos not even their mother likes them- and they'd be like a golden ticket to Brexit failing and Labour winning the next election). Johnson would be your best caretaker, but he won't touch it I don't imagine.
I'm just watching the *** show unfold with a mixture of extreme despair and amusement. It's awful :(
I'll be surprised if you get many answers for the simple reason there is not one person in the House of Commons worthy of the title " the next Prime Minister" temporary or not.
really? with JC in charge?
he's had an open goal for months now - and opportunity after opportunity has been comprehensively fluffed. he should walk it. but he won't.
Not a Cobyn fan , but I don't think LABOUR could have even made,
as Big a Ba--lls up as this lot who are in charge now, don't just get rid of May, get rid of the Cons altogether.

you'd probably be looking an equivalent level of incompetence gulliver. the labour party are just as polarised as the conservative party when it comes to the EU; maybe more so with the current leadership who - whilst their parliamentary party are largely remainers - know that they will be unable to enact great parts of their manifesto if still in the EU.
Actually Michael Gove would be my choice, if not my prediction. He has the brains, the creativity and most importantly perhaps the charisma possibly needed
So, naturally, he hasn’t a hope :-)
Charisma? He does. It’s a constant impression given by people who know him.
I’m talking about interpersonal skills. not necessarily “sock it to ‘em” mass appeal.
A friend of mine was on a quiz team with him once and they were going for a largish cash prize with a particular question to which my friend insisted he knew the answer: spectacularly incorrectly so. Gove apparently was the model of charm and tact. I can see that quality coming in handy.
