Motive. I think the noose he kept around his neck could be key.
His friend Kamala Harris was trying to get her Anti-Lynching Bill passed. (who knew it was legal, ;-) )
She announced she was running for President the day before poor Jusse was attacked.

we DO know how much he was paid - not enough. that was why he did it
and we also know that being involved in a criminal case may mean loss of lots and lots of moolah. Game of Thrones? The lady who claimed she was assaulted on Waterloo concourse - Day 1 of the case she pointed at the defendant and said 'that is not he!' The charade continued for a week and he was acquitted. He had to pay for his own defence which wd have been £30 000 - nowhere near a wasted costs order.
This means he was effectively fined £30k for being in the wrong place - but also kinda wasnt [fined] - - do people see that?

witness crimes are 1) perjury and 2)perversion of the course of justice

Perjury is not a tort here (UK) [a thousand ABers hit the 'wot dat den?' button within the same millisecond] which means you cant sue for damages ( loss of job, reputation etc) on perjury
sad but true - the english rule is - "interest rei publicae sit finis ad litem". [Ni shrieks forrin, I see ancient forrin! - - someone applies a cold compress. Abers get up and leave] - it is in the interests of the republic that there is an end to litigation.
