Apparently May is actually considering trying for a fourth time to get her deal through.

Is it really possible that the government could just keep trying over and over until it gets what it wants? Or is this just a fantasy?

Apparently a spokesman has said things are "going in the right direction" seeing as the margin of defeat has slowly been whittled down.

That's certainly one way of looking at it....
Unintended consequences of the Fixed-Term Parliaments Act 2011. Without that Act, the massive defeats would have been de facto confidence votes in the government, forcing a general election. With that act in place, it's not clear how the government can be brought down: there is certainly little prospect of the Tory rebels siding with Corbyn on a No-Confidence motion that he brings forward, and what chance May calls an election herself?
Well Kromo....her "Deal" is the only deal that the EU will consider......her Deal or No Deal....it is the only show in town.

For the last 3 years, we have been saying "stick it to Brussels and they will cave in at the last moment"....but they haven't.

Parliament doesn't like her deal, but EU does and that gives you a clue to why she is hanging on to her withdrawal Agreement.

I suppose in normal circumstances one would expect her party to overthrow her or her ministers to force her to resign... but the chance of the former was blown in December and ministers seem to prefer just ignoring the PM to actually doing anything about her.
They should translate it into Ulster Scots, which would make it “substantially different, and might please the DUP, even though they wouldn’t understand it any more than anyone else.
This does seem more and more like the Einstein syndrome (repeating the same ill fated manoeuvre over and over again)
It is not actually true that May's Deal is the only deal the EU will accept. More precisely, it's the only deal that Theresa May will accept. The EU will in principle be content to arrange a deal based around a Customs Union, but that is something that May had repeatedly rejected. With some logic, it must be said: a Customs Union restricts the UK's future ability to negotiate its own trade arrangements.
surely the speaker will rule it out as a duplicate.
Indeed. Presumably they’d find some way round that - again

"The EU will in principle be content to arrange a deal based around a Customs Union,"

Really?....you may well be correct but i didn't think that it had been debated by the Union States.
Well, perhaps it has not been formally tested yet, but words from Barnier and other lead EU officials suggest that if the UK put it on the table then they would give it serious consideration.
Jim...quite.....but would Parliament accept it.....a similar motion last Monday was not approved by the house?
Yes, putting this up to a fourth vote is the height of contempt for Parliament. Especially as it implies that May's strategy, as long as she is allowed, would be to push for a fifth, sixth, and so on.
Sqad: Indeed, It was not. Close, though! And it is worth bearing in mind, too, that there were something like 100+ abstentions, including most of the Cabinet. If, instead of Ken Clarke tabling the motion, it became official Government policy, then it would have a fairly decent chance of passing Parliament.

LOL....I agree Jim and this is where "democracy" and parliamentary procedures have failed miserably.

In my Government....after the Chequers meeting which was agreed (grudgingly )by the Cabinet......the Government of the day.....the proposal would be presented to Brussels who would have accepted.....job done....result of the referendum accomplished...the wish of the people ( which is after all democracy).

well she can have a vote every day till the 12th, then we drop out the bottom!
April 12th is the new March 29th, TTT. Just saying.
Following EU example. Get the answer you didn't want ? Keep asking again and again until enough turncoats get you the answer you're looking for.
Well why not try again until she gets the result she wants?

Isn’t that the EU and remainist way?

She is only doing what others are demanding. She just happens to be advocating the opposite (albeit with a crapola Deal)
Pathetic.
