“…Albania ,by FAR the poorest nation in Europe !”
Indeed. And one of the five official candidate nations for EU membership. Those believing remaining in the EU is a vote for the status quo should examine carefully Albania’s economy, political situation and social niceties. The EU’s latest report on Albania’s application (which has been ongoing for ten years) says this:
“Progress in the accession process will depend on achievements in few key areas such as fight against corruption and organised crime, reform of judicial system and constructive and sustainable political dialogue between government and opposition.”
Nothing about the not having a pot to pish in (that will soon be cured courtesy of the EU's "net contributors"). That aside, sounds just the sort of nation we want on board.
The EU does not do a “status quo”. We can either leave and determine our own status quo or remain and be saddled with the one the EU dishes up for us.
