Oh don't worry the streets will still be there, even if the inhabitants aren't.

But as regards emissions these have been polluting the air that we breath, since the start of the Industrious Revolution.

I can even remember the smog, when my car passenger would either poke his head out of my car's sunshine roof to steer me on my way, or even been known to walk in front of my car to guide me.
