Having read through the events of the day and the way she responded, it seems obvious she was used as a scapegoat more than anything. Sepsis is very often missed, but should not be left to one person anyway. I would trust her, having read both parts.

I might not with my own child - why tempt fate - however I think she has been poorly treated. I recall at the time that many other doctors supported her and there were far more failings in this tragic case than just her error. I expect people die every week in the NHS that possibly shouldn't but that's accepted (or rather not queried). I also feel a bit sorry for her.

Unfortunately you have no way of knowing this, it is pure supposition.

For me once struck off, stay off. No I would not like her near my grandkids.

I think sepsis is very hard to find in people with disabilities. Also i agree with pixie, now sepsis will always cross her mind

is called - recall bias
oh I must not make X mistake again so I will do Y
rather than - the sum of the childs needs are A so I will do B

also I must not make X mistake again so I will do A,B,C,D
even tho in a real world I know they arent needed

I'd trust her. Those responsible for reinstating her have far more information and understanding than the shock headlines and report of the Daily Mail.

Scenario (true) - very popular young whizzkid doctor in a busy surgery in a Dorset town - did a home visit to my mother who had severe headache and throwing up, told her it was a bug and gave her something to ease the sickness. Next day in a coma in Poole hospital with bacterial meningitis. She never woke up. He missed it, should he have been struck off if I'd made a fuss?

I read a very extensive report about this case on the bbc website yesterday. My conclusion, she indeed is the “ scapegoat”. Many errors were made at the hospital , not just this doctors. Very sad for this family .

At first i thought the OP said GM but soon realised i read it too quickly. I did however, take a decent amount of time to assess the article, which helped with my conclusions
