We've got a chunk of the real Berlin Wall, and my East German step father joked he'd sold more of it than ever existed back in the day, any old rubble would do, so I think the Great Wall of China joke is probably true. lol

I don't care about bits of burned Notre Dame being flogged- it's an ill wind that blows no-one any good, but I'd have issues with people looting somewhere like Auschwitz.

I don't know about the Egyptian piece, but many were killed trying to get over the Berlin Wall.

People have got too sensitive these days, the kids of WW2 would collect and swap pieces of shrapnel from Nazi bombs and British guns that had perhaps killed many, they would also barter for Nazi badges from German POWs.

It's not about people being killed. It's about owning a piece of history.

and IMO people should not be collecting this history.

It's like if people went to these places and carved their name into them. Once one person does it, everyone does. Not only does that make your little find or carving less special and less rare, but it also destroys the monument or historic artefact your'e trying to keep special little piece of.
