that wont kill this thread innit? My grand-daddy was at ypres 1917 and survived and the tommies picked up bits othe medaeval cathedral.
He had a bit of the choir from 1300 - and when they rebuilt, offered it bck an dthey sid no thanks
...... and actually as an art historian, it was a putto from 1680

We've got a chunk of the real Berlin Wall, and my East German step father joked he'd sold more of it than ever existed back in the day, any old rubble would do, so I think the Great Wall of China joke is probably true. lol

and IMO people should not be collecting this history.
It's like if people went to these places and carved their name into them. Once one person does it, everyone does. Not only does that make your little find or carving less special and less rare, but it also destroys the monument or historic artefact your'e trying to keep special little piece of.
