It's a bit short on detail but he used a burner Email address and I assume that if he was smart enough to do that he'd have used a TOR too, probably via an VPN and a HIC. So how would you track through all that? If it turns out he's a wally using his own IP and home Wifi then correct, even you could have tracked him down, well done give yourself a gold star.
