/// The day to commemorate the aspiring architect’s life was announced by Prime Minister Theresa May last year. ///

Let us hope that this will help to remove the high number of other murders that are now taking place on our streets.

Apart from the investigation into racism in the police wasn't there something about the Stephen Lawrence case that brought about a change in the Double Jeopardy law? That made this a high profile case.
I believe you can be prosecuted for mentioning St George's Day, david.
Not sure.
There was a good reason for the Double Jeopardy Law, imo.
Thanks for the link,scorpiojo.
You're welcome
// she has not been granted the wide publicity that has been bestowed on the late Stephen Lawrence's mother.//

more like the publicity bestowed on the unsuccessful investigation
and the mind boggling attempts to tap into the family so they could modify or ameliorare any criticism.
Forgive me for being a proud Brit, while there is something to still be proud of, before Lammy and Abbott et al whittle me down to FA.
I'm sure you're fine mentioning St George - a pity he never came to visit.
// There was a good reason for the Double Jeopardy Law, imo//

yeah common law - I was not keen on the change - but there are a few legal hoops to jumpr thro. so that it cant be used for theft or riot or dropping the same cigareet end

https://www.open.edu/openlearn/society-politics-law/law/what-double-jeopardy

and was caused by advances in DNA no less

oh just to educate unwilling Abers in ancient forrin:
interest rei publicae sit finis ad litem
"It is to the interest of the state that there be a limit to litigation."

it is legal latin in case Johnny Brexit an AB stalward of Brexit should snarl - that 's not english law - that's forrin !
Like this:
//Forgive me for being a proud Brit, ...//

they're heeeeere ! ( Tagline from Poltergeist )
I don't know no fancy forrin, PP, but I do know that if;
The PM said you did it
The CC of the Met. said you did it
Every paper said you did it
Every TV Station said you did it
Harry the Grass in Cell Block B said you did it
After the 3rd or 4th trial they'll find a jury that said you, did indeed, do it.

Or to put in words even Lefty can understand, if the State wants to nail you, eventually they will. Whether you did or didn't 'do it'.
Petrie - Quelle del korn beouff an da dingy far?
Spicey - hi spicey
the acourt brothers were dobbed into the police within a few hours
( and the investigation officer did not think this was enough to arrest on suspicion - so the house wasnt searched and evidence may hvae been destroyed)

and the PM, Daily telegraph saying I did it - ( or they did it) is STILL not admissible in court. Of no probative value I think the phrase is

and fird or forf time ? - double jeopardy is limited to - - one retrial
but hey this is Ab so who gives a tass about that ?
// Petrie - Quelle del korn beouff an da dingy far?//

i dont know - but I'll ask TTT ! ter daaah !
They had 3 well publicised trials at least.
It doesn't really matter if things aren't admissible in court if they've permeated the public consciousness.
^ Another good reason for having the Double Jeopardy rule.
they were indicted twice for murder
once where Michael Mansfield conducted a private prosecution ( which the crown took over and discontinued
and the second years later where two were convicted

one of the publicised trials was probably the inquest
acourt tries to hit someone on his way out of court

the father was indicted for drugs or running a bordello ....
Peter Pedant
//acourt tries to hit someone on his way out of court //

Who could forget that disgusting exhibition of thuggery?
