About 2.3 tons in my house.

Have a very large Hennessy brandy bottle which is approx three quarters full of 1p, 2p and 5p coins. I also have separate smaller jar for 20p pieces. Empty my purse every night.

copper-plated steel and occasionally old-fashioned bronze - you can tell the difference with a magnet.

If anything, removing the coppers might see charity donations increase, because then the fi'pennies become loose change.

There's little point in a particular coinage of money if it isn't facilitating transactions. We lost farthings and halfpennies for the same reason.
