/// Never occurred to me because, well, mind not diseased. ///

/// 'Soon as those good enough to point out it's possible connotations got in touch, down it came. And that's it. ///

Why did he need for this obvious racist insult to be pointed out to him?

Lucky Donald Trump or Tommy Robinson didn't do it. No rubbers on ends of pencils would have erased that!

"so it makes sense for those who were young in the 60's / 70's to have prejudice opinions of black people and to think it acceptable to mock them / compare them to primates. "

How DARE you, arrogant little ...

Danny that was 2015, and it doesn't take racism away from the UK.
Danny - 2015 being, relatively recent in terms of black history
YMB do't take it personally. I'm simply shedding light on why the older generation can be more racially inclined than the younger one. And it's true. People my age will say "my nans a bit racist" etc.. Because they're from a different time, where society collectively viewed black people differently.
Spath, you were hinting that Diane Abbott was the only black MP.
Spath,// the older generation can be more racially inclined than the younger one//
Absolute rubbish. My generation was and is more tolerant of other races.
No, she was the first! I can think of many current black MP's. David lammy for one (i like him a lot)
"Absolute rubbish. My generation was and is more tolerant of other races."

That is highly debatable. If anything society has become more accepting of everyone, gay, black, whatever than it was in the past. Today's society is more accepting in many ways, not just race.
That is contrary to what you posted at 14.15.
I'd leave him to shed his light until the whole thing turns into a sun spot.

Thread is dead now any way.
my general point is, society is now more accepting than it was in the past. Towards race, sex, whatever.
Spath, and my contention is that is the older members of today's society who are the more tolerant.
Well we differ of opinion then. I'm unsure how we could prove either of us right.

One thing that we seem to agree on though is that society, now is more tolerant to everyone than it was 40 years ago.
Spath// I'm unsure how we could prove either of us right. //
Look at the tolerance afforded you on this site :-)
hahaha, it's not all that tolerant wouldn't you know ;)

It would seem by the way you have taken over this thread that you have an enormous chip on your shoulder.

Since you have obviously plenty to say on the discrimination of black people, and so as to take some weight off your shoulder, may I suggest that you open up your own thread on the subject of black discrimination, rather than derail this one?

I disagree that the thread has been derailed. You can comment on Danny Baker, or black discrimination, or anything around those topics and the threads flow will be kept.
spath--So you think the younger generation is more tolerant nowadays. Come up to Lancashire and you'd be sadly mistaken. Also
blacks were not the only ones who were taken into slavery. One of my white ancestors was enslaved by the Moroccan pirates and taken to Africa. People were kidnapped from many European countries. White people were highly prized by the marauding sadistic Africans. You need to brush up on your History.
There must be an awful lot of unknowingly racist people around, especially up here in Lancashire. It's quite common to hear children being called 'little monkeys' when they are behaving mischievously.Never did we equate that with racism.
You obviously don't understand why people refer black people to monkeys / apes, then Andres. It has nothign to do with being a "cheeky monkey" or mischievous or child like behaviour.

I'm not sure what happened in Moroccan culture, but i can only speak from a the position of a white person living in the UK.
Andres, yes, of course.

You know for a young person to exist, they have to have an older parent? That parent, if they are tolerant of all races ,why would they raise a racist? It makes no sense.

It does make sense for a racist to raise a non racist though.
