Rather than people's religious rights riding roughshod over other people right to exist on an equal footing as the law proscribes? That's been going on for a couple of thousand years with all of the Abramic religions Danny, but is that okay?
If you do not teach something is normal and okay to be, you by definition imply that it's not- that is not equality with the greatest respect.

"..and many Muslim people feel it is against their religion."
Then they should either self-educate their children or relocate elsewhere. We're back to the same argument in that "mission creep" is enduring in this country to accommodate different religious beliefs. The argument about the age of the children concerned is thus immaterial. If a legal practice is "against their parents' religion" it will remain so whether the children are five or fifteen.

//Calicogirl, Can I ask what you would do, or think, if a child of yours was being taught that to be a pagan is abnormal?//
I'm not quite following your logic Danny, no-one is teaching that anyone is 'abnormal' just that people who are gay/ bi are normal. Your proposal is not the same thing at all, no-one is proposing that anyone brands Christians as 'abnormal' because of their religious belief, just that children are led to understand that whoever's religious beliefs ( christian, Jew, Muslim, Pagan- whichever religion) do not trump UK law and is not necessarily the final word on it, they are imply that person's personal beliefs.

//Does this also apply to the thousands of Jews that live here? //
doubt it. although homosexuality is referenced in less than complimentary terms in Levicticus, modern Judaism takes the view that it's only taboo if the adherents are free to choose that path. being gay isn't a lifestyle choice, you are what you are. QED. and in fact gays can attend Rabbi schools.

People who are gay/bi are not normal. Just because they now have equality under the law does not automatically bestow normalcy upon them. "Normal: 1.
conforming to a standard; usual, typical, or expected.
"it's quite normal for puppies to bolt their food"
synonyms: usual, standard, typical, stock, common, ordinary, customary, conventional, habitual, accustomed, expected, wonted, everyday, regular, routine, day-to-day, daily, established, settled, set, fixed, traditional, quotidian, prevailing." And no, I didn't seek out or "cherry-pick" that definition; it was the first one I came across.

If it was within UK law then tbh nothing Danny. People's religious opinions are their own (mine included- my father is a lapsed Catholic, my mother Jewish and we're loosely and individually Pagan) but none of that trumps laws made for the benefit of all society. If it was something super drastic I would consider removing my child, but I can't imagine tbh anything that would cause that to happen under present legislation.
It sounds offensive, but i don't mean it so. But i agree with sanmac. It's not normal for humans to be with the same sex, because then we would't exist.. Biologically we need to be with man and woman.
However that's not to say it is wrong or negative to be in a same sex relationship.. it's just not the norm.
It's also not the "norm" to have a baby and give it to a same sex couple.
