//Johnson was pictured standing in front of the bus which had the slogan "we send the EU £350 million a week, let's fund our NHS instead" emblazoned on the side.//
No mention of spending it all on the NHS.
but it's just a suggestion of one way we could spend the £350m a week we give to the EUSSR.
He is actually claiming that Johnson abused public trust in his office as Mayor of London and MP by intentionally misleading the public with regards to how much money the UK spends on EU membership. Thanks to the omnipresence of Boris during the campaign, he has plenty of video evidence, too. Think it's gonna be interesting, to say the least.
well to the English speaking world it was a statement followed by a suggestion. No idea how thick you'd need to be to interpret it in any other way.
Hang on, hang on...I thought it was Farage's bus?
And here am I thinking we expect all politicians to be honest and transparent or is it only the ones we disagree with. I have to admit to wincing at the time what would have been so bad in saying £250 million

// that could otherwise be spent on the NHS //

it says 'could' not would, no dishonesty there at all imo.
TTT, you misunderstand my post. The guy is taking Boris to court for lying about how much we are sending the EU, not what we might or might not spend it on should we leave. He had intended to attack Cameron but feels he has a lot more evidence on Johnson given his numerous appearances on tv and his columns in the newspapers where he hardly ever wavered from the figure on the bus. From what i read, his case has nothing to do with Brexit and everything to do with MPs telling porky pies.
The dishonesty was about the amount. Any comment about what else could have been done with the money is a smokescreen. MPs can lie inside parliament but outside are not protected. Johnson repeated the figure often enough, but the prosecution will need to establish he knew it was false.
Apparently, on 11 May 2016, he said, "If you take out the abatement and the money that comes back via Brussels, the figure is obviously lower." Yet, on the same day, he points to the Battle Bus and states that it is "Totally right, totally right." Sounds like he was arguing with himself!
Ken, he was obviously quoting the figure demanded by the EU before any rebates were refunded.Since then he has said that the figure was an underestimation.
"The guy is taking Boris to court for lying about how much we are sending the EU" - too easy, doesn't matter if the figure is accurate, all he has to do is claim he believes it is. As it happens it's accurate lest the semantics of those that want to make a fuss.
Full Fact, gromit? Shame on you.
There were these 2 'Jack the Lads' who wanted to get rich quick but weren't too keen on work.
So they set up various bogus charities but the Charity Commission realised they were scams and our heroes were conmen so they wouldn't licence any of them including Full Fact.
Along came the referendum and 'Call me Dave' thought 'I could really use an amoral, totally biased fact-checker'. Made a phone call to the head of the Charity Commission, who probably went to school with him, and Bingo, the Charity Commissioners had a change of heart and you know the rest.
I did know where the big donations they needed to get started came from, a couple of 'charitable trusts' whose funding could be traced back to the EU.
They've never knowingly not twisted a figure to favour the EU. That's why only Remainers ever used their spurious evidence to support their bogus claims.
The judge is obviously a Remoaner.
The notion that a politician should face a court in this country for such actions is frankly laughable.
Another fantastic landmark in the annals of the British legal system.
// Hang on, hang on...I thought it was Farage's bus? //

No.
Farage campaigned with Leave.EU.
The bus was used by Vote Leave, a rival brexit organisation fronted by Boris and Gove and others.
Farage had no part in campaigning with that bus.
Are you saying Farage travels on the other bus?!?!
Since that is what we paid, why is a false allegation being made ?
Gromit

And you (or other ABers) have never linked Farage with the bus then, Gromit?
Talbot,
I don’t believe I have, but if you have evidence otherwise, let me know.
I suspect others have linked Farage to the bus, but that is their error.
I think it will be thrown out the window, wipers will be at the scene to mop up Borris’ blubbering but the wheels must keep on turning

Yes it will be a right crack
