Not to be trusted. Has a history of telling big fat lies.
The National Audit Office (Whitehall’s independent spending watchdog) issued a report that was highly critical of the Governments roll out of Universal Credit, and said the scheme should be paused.
McVey, in her capacity as Work and Pensions Minister deceived the Commons several times by saying the report wanted UC speeded up.
The Head of the National Audit Office complained that she was deceiving Parliament by misrepresenting its report. McVey ignored him and repeated the lie.
It was only when he published their correspondence and her lies were made public, that she finally apologised.
