I mean.. it's a bit off for the speaker to ask someone to withdraw their opinion of something being racist or not.

It's not for the speaker to decide if someone feels they have witnessed a racist or hate crime or not.
"He refused to withdraw his allegation of racism despite being urged to do so by Speaker John Bercow."

Bercow should be spoken to for such a ludicrous request. How dare he. I take umbridge.
Big up Ian Blackford. Good man. Speak out on racism and hate crimes because the prestigious Tories never will. Well done Blackford.
Well said Mr Blackford, its about time someone stood up to that jumped up little upstart Johnson.
Spath.// The Speaker has full authority to make sure MPs follow the rules of the House during debates. This can include:

directing an MP to withdraw remarks if, for example, they use abusive language//
I suggest you read this before passing comments on the Speaker.

Deeming something as racist (and it can be proven) is not abusive language. He also informed Boris he would be addressing this in the house. All is well and fair.

I don't like Bercow.
I don't like him either, but he controls the HOC.
He does. But he doesn't control the law, and if BoJo has been racist, and is looking to move into no. 10... Blackford has every right to raise his concerns with the current PM.
Say what you think and you're not gonna get confirmation of what everybody already knows.
This from someone who appears to loath and detest the English race!
Khandro, do you have evidence of the statement you just made ?

Bear in mind Boris has joint American/ British Citizenship he could just as easily run for POTUS, he even has the right hairstyle ;o)
Don't trust Boris much but the way an anti-British trougher like Blackford and the anti-British BBC are attacking him, he must be doing something right.
Not worth starting another thread but Rory's out.

Good News.
Boris up to 146, the same figure as the three remaining candidates combined.
BALDRIC, did he not revoke his American citizenship a few year ago? I think it was because he was being pestered by the IRS.
Are those defending Boris Johnson happy that he allowed this to appear poem in the Spectator magazine?

"The Scotch – what a verminous race!

Canny, pushy, chippy, they’re all over the place, Battening off us with false bonhomie, Polluting our stock, undermining our economy.

Down with sandy hair and knobbly knees!

Suppress the tartan dwarves and the Wee Frees!

Ban the kilt, the skean-dhu and the sporran

As provocatively, offensively foreign!

It’s time Hadrian’s Wall was refortified

To pen them in a ghetto on the other side.

I would go further. The nation

Deserves not merely isolation

But comprehensive extermination.

We must not flinch from a solution.

(I await legal prosecution.)"

I would like to see a profile of the BJ ‘s supporters .
"verminous race" "polluting our stock"
"pen them in a ghetto"
"comprehensive extermination."
"We must not flinch from a solution."

With echoes of the Final Solution, how on earth can the publication of this racist poem be defended?
