A lot of peoples imagination often takes over when they see "something" in the sea. If it's not big enough to be a whale " it must be a great white"

Why would they lie?
Perhaps they are confusing great whites with Basking, which are seen around the UK.
^I agree - but who knows?
''we're gonna need a bigger boat''

Ashley said: ‘Great White Sharks are there now, I’m sure of it. I’ve not seen one myself but I do speak to a lot of fisherman who say they have" Fisherman have been saying that for years but I expect repeating the rumour in the hope of a bit of shark spotting won`t do Ashley`s fishing trip business any harm at all.

Use your imagination. I can see loads of signs along the quay inviting punters to come 'Jaws Spotting' on their fishing boats. :-)

You can bare boat charter boats on Loch Ness for family cruising 'with or without 'Nessie finding' echo sounders. lol
Maybe..
Basking sharks are definitely active around the coasts..

Great whites have much sharper fins (less rounded)

If it was a basking and the man said it was a great white i would call him out on it.

^ I`m pretty sure most trawlermen can tell the difference between a great white and a basking shark - these people spend their lives at sea.
Ah, spath the shark expert:-) Just how many have you seen in the oceans then out of curiosity?

Eh? Just because you go to sea a lot certainly does not mean you will have seen every creature living in it. I doubt many have actually seen one - ever.
^ basking sharks are not uncommon (ask any Cornish surfer) I`m pretty sure most fishermen would know one if they saw one.

3. Two basking.

Basking sharks are very common down in the devon waters.

Sharks abound in Malaga during the summer season. They are all trying to sell time share.
I've seen basking sharks off the Scottish coast (Arran) It's possible, I suppose, that Great Whites could move north - like the horrible African hornets, they had reached the Vienne in 2014 and I heard that some had been found in the S. of England.
