But of course they can be trusted not to vote twice.

you are expecting a low turnout Gromit? Or are you just hoping to find something to moan about in advance? The last time they had the party vote in a leader it was 100% turnout, the winner got 67%, I trust that would be acceptable.
Tora,
Agreed, Boris will get 75% of not many votes cast. But votes cast will not be 180,000. He will get about 50,000, which is a pathetically small number to choose our Prime Minister for the next 3 years.
last turn out was 100% why do you think it will be vastly lower? I'm not sure what the actual number is but it's between 160,000 and 180,000. Taking the lower figure he should get 120000, on what basis do you think that 10s of thousands of members will not vote?
for him to get 50000 and that be 75% of the vote, the turnout would have to be around 40%, do you really expect only 40% of Tories to vote?
Tora,
The last ballot of Tory members was 14 years ago. Cameron got 134,500.
I would put money on Boris getting less than half that tally. (Based on there are only 80,000) voters to begin with).
how do you arrive at 80000 members of the party?
it was 124000 in 2018, estimated to be 160-180000 now.
TTT, the turnout in the election for Cameron was about 74%, not 100% as you said.
Apologies, it was about 78%.
TCL it says 100% here, 198,844, of which Cameron got 67%, click on "results"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005_Conservative_Party_(UK)_leadership_election#Results
still waiting for gromit to validate his figure of 80,000 for party membership.
TTT, I was surprised at your claim the last vote had 100% turnout so I thought I'd check. It's unlikely that every Tory member returnt their ballot papers and I guessed you accepted the figures from Wiki which do show a full turn. That's not the case and a report dated 29.11.05 from the BBC says,
"Leadership contenders David Cameron and David Davis are in the midst of a six week campaign to win a postal ballot of 253,600 Conservative members."

As there were 198,844 votes cast, the turnout was 78.4%.
yeah having 180 000 choose the next prime minister
I mean it is just another Brexit con innit?

what about the other 54 500 000 ?
They are merely electing a party leader, that's how it works.
ok fair enough TCL, I went with wiki, still 53% of the membership. Of course totally irrelevant anyway. We are merely electing our party leader, there are 2 candidates, the one with the most wins, end of.
You have a vote do you?
Yes, I'm in the party.
The queen chooses the Prime Minister. Usually whoever is leading the largest party, or coalition. The rest of us don't get a say.
Not joined the Brexit Party then?
