Four shootings ,two fatal, since Friday in London. Looks like gun crime is playing catch up with knife crime. Not confined to one area. Anywhere and everywhere.

pp --I recall in the 50s being able to go out and leave the door unlocked. No graffiti adorning the town. No vandalism. Respect for older people, policemen, teachers . Petty thefts usually carried out by people known to the police. No dropping litter on the pavements. No smoking on the lower decks of buses. No being drunk in the streets or you would be taken off to...

AOG @ 09.49; "Dr. Crippen murdered his wife". No he didn't. He's since been proved innocent, due to DNA. His descendants have requested a pardon from the British Govt, and the return of his remains to the USA. The British Govt have refused both, saying it was too long ago to affect anything now. It has been claimed that Crippen was "fitted up" by a an investigating officer because the police knew that Crippen was performing illegal abortions at the time. Crippens' wife was later known to be living in New York after he had been hanged for her murder. In his last letter before his execution, Crippen wrote: "I believe that at some point in the future, forensic methods of detection will be forthcoming, that will prove my innocence". A man wrongly convicted and still talked about with horror, yet innocent.
//Yes, i believe there is, especially with other gangs and not just civies.
This isn't a new phenomenon, though. Just ask the Krays.//
Lol. I don't know what civies are and have to do with my question and the Krays have nothing to do with present gangland killings and stabbing which is what we are discussing.
I wrote earlier that life is cheap nowadays and you replied I was deluded.
Can you not see that playing 'catch-up' with a point system for a sick game of wounding and killingrival gang members is cheapening life?
As this is happening now I am not deluded in stating it is happening.

o god save us from recall bias - doors open, no theft. no vandalism - er sorry vandalism comes from gratuituous destruction and is at least a thousand years old. So they must have had it sometime
Krays - thiefrow, teddy boys, mods and rocker renowned for their respect for the old,
fairy stories as BA - normal day for AB then

Retro, i thought gangs killing gangs would be up there on things you didn't care about.
When i say civies, i mean regular people. I thought that would be a term you'd usually be comfortable with.
The points are awarded "for stabbing rivals". Who cares, let them kill eachother.
Maybe more points for a gun? Probably. Yes that is an issue, if they start to kill civies. I do not care if some young thug is shot whilst on the line of duty for his gang. What goes around comes around.

ummmm
//here have been murders where I live, and it's not a crime ridden town, that hasn't made the national press.//
One or two every so often is just not news anymore. Soon our Monday regular bulletin on the weekends slaying in London will soon no longer be reported I guess. For some it is just same old same old because despite the denials on AB it is rising.

I am more comfortable with the term civvies and how it is correctly spelt then I know what we are talking about.
Civvies are usually described as non uniformed people.
Gangs wear no uniforms and are not soldiers or the Sally Army.
We get to the nub of the matter. You don't care that gangs are out there killing and stabbing. Shame on you 'peacelily'
That now tells me more about the waste of space you really are and proves you are anti-social .

I acknowledge that the Dunblane and Hungerford acts were committed by legally held firearms owners but this was more a failure of police to properly.... blah blah etc
The perpetrators of crime are responsible for crime, bainbrig. It’s not rocket science.
from Nigh dear Nigh and that cd be usefully edited to:
The perpetrators of crime are responsible for crime, retro. It’s not rocket science. get a life
Hungerford and Dunblane clearly WEREN'T a licensing issue and we know that crime has risen ( or we wouldnt be on this thread) and so channg the licences - Clearly Hasnt Worked (Again)
I recollect that Hungerford caused so much Lundy outcry, the minister went down to calm tempers and got an earful ....
[The cruel gun man went around H hunting down women and children in bobbly caps and the police stayed a few miles away regretting their inaction, shrugging their shoulders (they couldnt do narfin see?) and sucking their teeth]
Report on Hungerford began - "all in all the day went quite well...."
and the minister threw it in a corner and said
no no no - there is gonna have to be a complete rewrite....
[Exactly the same happened in 2005 Lundy bombings - there was similar complacent self-satisfaction which was written out]
