Just as well. It's one thing for a leader to keep their enemies closer, quite another to have someone who wants foreign unelected elites to rule over our nation, in the cabinet.
OG if there was a like button I'd click it.
Meanwhile no-deal has become Hobson's Choice, forced on us by the EU and from what we hear, the Irish government.
They're all agin' us, foreigners, our own, and even those yet to be born. Just as well that we are about to escape.......... Now who said "into oblivion" ? Pass the tar and feathers, no, second thought, pass the suicide belt.
//I feel a lot more comfortable personally being governed by the likes of Martin Selmayr.//

Indeed. A career civil servant, a Euromaniac of the highest order, a person who has never sullied his hands by standing for election in any office whatsoever. On top of that he was appointed to his current position (Secretary-General of the European Commission) in highly dubious circumstances which led to an investigation by the European Ombudsman. It found instances of "maladministration" and concluded that the Commission "broke the letter and spirit of EU law". The Ombudsman's findings were (predictably - rejected by the EU Commission. Here's a snippet of the skulduggery surrounding his appointment:

//The fact that there would be a vacancy for the post of secretary-general — that the incumbent Alexander Italianer wanted to retire — was kept secret from the rest of the College of European Commissioners. A vacancy for the post of deputy secretary-general was created (by moving the incumbent aside), so that Selmayr could be appointed to that post and, four minutes later, promoted to secretary-general.//

Last week Mr Selmayr announced his resignation from the post and so has the dubious distinction of enjoying - by far - the shortest tenure in the job.

Sounds like just the man I'd like to be able to vote for.
[What she promised, and what she has delivered]

//Britain needs a strong and stable government to get the best Brexit deal for our country and its people.
Britain needs strong and stable leadership to make the most of the opportunities Brexit brings for hardworking families.
Britain needs a clear plan.
This manifesto, Forward, Together: Our Plan for
a Stronger Britain and a Prosperous Future will meet the great challenges of our time, beyond Brexit.
With this plan and with a strong hand through Brexit, we will build a stronger, fairer, more prosperous Britain, for all of us. //

After such optimism, the result IS a humiliation.
Twenty seven countries managed to come together with a plan for OUR Brexit.
One single country couldn’t.
You can understand the frustration (well, you probably can’t but never mind)
The reason for that, Ikky, is that the politicians deciding on the plan for the 27 are quite happy to see their countries subjugated to a foreign power. Most of our politicians are similarly minded whereas, because they were asked, the people of the UK (unlike those of the 27) have said that they are not happy with such an arrangement.
Well, a smidgen just over half of those who voted did. Let’s not pretend it was the whole country, eh?
ZM's anthem "Yes i'm the great remainer" (apologies to Freddie Mercury)
At least I’m not ‘pretending’ that we all voted leave.
//Well, a smidgen just over half of those who voted did.//

Indeed Zacs. And that's all that matters because if it was a smidgen under half the matter would have been put to bed on June 24th 2016 and we'd have heard no more of it.
You should go on mastermind, NJ. Specialist subject: the bleedin obvious.
No it isn’t NJ it’s called compromise for the common good. An art we seem to have lost.
//No it isn’t NJ it’s called compromise for the common good. An art we seem to have lost.//

So how much "compromise" would there have been if the result had been 52:48 to remain? (Clue: The answer will fit comfortably into the top quarter of a postage stamp).
One referendum required to remain but two referendums, apparently, required to leave? So much for democracy. Might as well live in a Banana republic where the AK 47 decides who wins and loses. :-(

ZM: so you are quite happy to be subjugated as the judge says?
Tell me how that subjugation affects your (or my) daily life, Tora. Then tell me how many posts you’ve made criticising the very people you’ve voted to have control over us.
Question Author
are you happy to be subjugated or not? simple question.
