Is it only the Daily Mail that criticises her, or do other papers do it too, do we know ??
naomi - // Can’t imagine what criteria you employ in deciding what to believe as far as media reporting goes. //

As far as the Royals are concerned, it's not difficult.

Attacking the Royals in the media is the equivalent of shooting fish in a barrel, it creates circulation, there is no comeback, anyone can do it without any effort at all, simply make it up.

Therefore, I regard virtually all media reporting on the Royal family -and absolutely anything Piers Morgan says or writes - as made up.

How's that?
hereIam - // Is it only the Daily Mail that criticises her, or do other papers do it too, do we know ?? //

The Mail does it most, and most often, because it chimes with their readership which loves to get angry about things that don't really matter very much.

The others chime in if it's a slow news day - as I mentioned, it takes no effort, and there is no comeback.
I do wonder how many AB males would be able to stand back and keep their countenance seeing their wife pulled apart so.

* Yes, I know they are Royals, they are also human beings.
How’s that?
Not great. A bit airy-fairy really - but convenient if you want to pontificate regardless of the veracity of your ‘pontificating’.
^That to AH.
Mrs Simpson didn't go down too well with the Royals, the Press or the Public.
Mamya - // I do wonder how many AB males would be able to stand back and keep their countenance seeing their wife pulled apart so. //

Prince Harry is in the tragic and unqiue position of seeing exactly how much damage the media can do to an individual without redress - he has grown up with it, and undoubtedly accepts it as a by-product of who he is.

As for the Duchess, this is not her first rodeo as far as the media is concerned - as an actress through seven seasons of a massively popular TV drama series, she has endured her time in the negative media spotlight through her first marriage - and I am sure she was absolutely aware of what was coming when she married her prince.

It says a lot for the level of her love and commitment that she would sign up to a lifetime of criticism and belittling by one group of complete strangers, for the entertainment and delusion of another group of complete strangers, in order to be with the man she loves.

As someone who seeks to defend a racist sexist buffoon who clearly needs no defence whatsoever, and actively seeks the condemnation he receives on a daily basis, I would suggest that you are on seriously shaky ground when accusing anyone of 'pontificating'!!
AOG - // Mrs Simpson didn't go down too well with the Royals, the Press or the Public. //

Indeed AOG, but as you are well aware, society and its influence and values were galaxies away from what they are today.

Charles, had he been asked to abandon his succession as the price of marrying Camila, would have told everyone where to get off!!

/// The Queen is not in the business of adoring anyone who brings her Family into disrepute, and history shows that she is not slow or shy to say so - and clearly she does adore the Duchess, so ask yourself, is this just a media hype campaign? ///

How do you know that the Queen adores the Duchess, perhaps she doesn't want to be labelled a racist also?
Some women's mags. have had a pop at her too. Recently it has been over the baby's christening and how she kept the Godparents anonymous and didn't do the usual Royal thing by letting the press photograph the guests arriving and departing from the Church. I kinda agree with this, although I quite like her. She is now a member of the Royal Family, no longer an actress and I'm sure she has been told about all the traditions she is expected to adhere to, but she does seem to always get her own way. She seems to want to keep the public out, but was it not the public (taxpayer's) money that paid for the vast improvements at her and Harry's home ?? Can she have it both ways - I don't know. The answer would be for her and Harry to give up their many Royal privileges and fund their own lifestyle, I'm sure they can afford it.

Yes and good for him for doing so, but that hasn't preventing him from receiving the flack that he is still continuously receiving.

You don't think that it had anything to do with Harry being a Prince of untold riches, and the chance of becoming a Duchess?
AOG - // How do you know that the Queen adores the Duchess, perhaps she doesn't want to be labelled a racist also? //

Pictures of the two of them together clearly show that the Queen enjoys the company of the Duchess - I won't divert the thread by indulging your incessant need to shoehorn the concept of racism into absolutely every thread to which you contribute.
AOG - // You don't think that it had anything to do with Harry being a Prince of untold riches, and the chance of becoming a Duchess? //

Not for one second.

First of all, after her time in Suits, I am quite sure Ms. Markle already enjoyed a nine-figure bank balance and all the adoration and fame she could ever want or need.

Would she trade that to move several thousand miles from her family and friends, terminate her hard-won career for ever, and put herself at the mercy of the most poisonous media machine in the world with never any chance ever of having her say, and join the most famously dysfunctional family on the planet, and succumb to years of tedious protocol, interference, absence of privacy, backbiting, envy, hysterical abuse from strangers, and everything else that goes with being a Royal - unless she loved her future husband very much and was willing to do all that to be with him?

I doubt it!
AOG - // Yes and good for him for doing so, but that hasn't preventing him from receiving the flack that he is still continuously receiving. //

Flak is instantly avoidable, simply select which sections of the press you read, and don't want the TV news - I am sure all the royals do both - they'd be insane by now otherwise!

The Queen has to put on a smiling face to many who she must hate with vigour, that is what is called diplomacy.

Perhaps in your position as a moderator you would be better employed criticising those others who constantly shoehorn the concept of racism into absolutely every thread that I contribute to.

I promise that if the day ever dawns when I feel I need advice from any AB'er about how to perform as a Moderator, you will be the very first person I contact.

(Hint - don't hold your breath!!!!!!)

In answer to your 16:28 post, yes she would for the simple reason the life of an actress of her standing only lasts while they are young and attractive, but being a duchess of untold wealth and privilege is for life.
