An admirable sentiment in support of your shooting friends, but utterly meaningless.
ANYONE can go on a rampage if the conditions are in place to make them do so - and there is absolutely no way that you, or anyone else, can guarantee against that.

What they are on is a regrettable mindset backed up by a seriously rich organisation, and a political system that makes even mentioning change something that Presidents do in their last term of office, when they have noting to lose, like an election.
The 'frontier' mentality that framed the Second Amendment, and gave citizens the right to bear arms against a potentially overbearking government remains, generations past the time when legislation makes such behaviour utterly impossible.
Put simply, a lot of Americans like guns, and enjoy the rather warped notion that they are entitled to protect their 'homesteads' with lethal force.
Add to that the Gun Lobby which has seriously deep pockets, and directly or indirectly funds a lot of right-wing government officials, and you have an impossible situation - no chance whatsoever of any meaningful legislation to control the number and use of guns ever being forthcoming in the foreseeable future.
Are guns bad - obviously.
Are Americans willing to give up their guns? - obviously not.
Is any political party ever likely to even think about altering legislation to make gun possession more difficult - Again, obviously not.
Until that situation changes meaningfully, these mass shootings will continue, and Presidents like Trump will mutter platitudes and do absolutely nothing, for reasons explained above.
How President Trump can stand up in public and say that 'hate does not belong in America' when he is advocating deporting American citizens in his own governmental system, makes me wonder how he doesn't simply implode with the unbearable weight of hypocrisy that bears down on him on an hourly basis.

I notice the AB’s most notorious mod is systematically trolling through my most recent posts . I’m flattered but couldn’t really give a rat’s what you opine. With regards to my US prison post I thought of you at 4am when I was bitten a couple of times by a particularly annoying and irritating mosquito that constantly got on my nerves whilst buzzing around my head.. I put the light on and squashed it dead. I thought that was justice as my blood was splattered over the swatter. I wondered if you might consider revenge for disposing of a useless odious and offensive insect or would you be happy to get it off your case. Strange that innit?

I don't believe I am 'notorious, except in the small circle of AB'ers you inhabit who like to pick fights where and when possible, and my being a Moderator has no bearing on my right to post as I see fit.

Wonderful - that saves you the vexing self-imposed task of being offensive about it in future then, and clearing the way for others to discuss the point with distraction.

If you think that swatting an insect compares with the murder of someone, then yes, I would say that is very strange - but since you don't care what I think, I am sure I can count on you not to respond in any meaningful way - as you failed to this time.

// I would suggest that makes them part of his own government system// and have the whole of his government move to Baffin Island on a rent agreement with the Canucks, or Puerto Rico.
Given Trump's daliiances with the KKK, are we surprised that some 21 year-old nutcase goes ballistic. 'One klan do anything if one is white.'

You appear to see a link between the President's overt and proudly owned racist attitudes, and the idea that a white male will see that as tacit permission to murder people.
Personally, I think that awards the guman(men) a level of sophisticated thought and reasoning that I seriously doubt actually exists, but it's an interesting idea.

This particular nutcase put at least some of his thoughts to paper, so you can see how he was trying to justify his murder. Tempting as it is to assume that mass-murderers are incapable of coherent thought, it's not always true. In this case it was at least half-planned, half-thought out, and pseudo-justified by some concept of fighting an "invasion" of foreign invaders.
Actually, he also went to some lengths to disassociate Trump from this.
