In the heat of the moment I daresay many criminals couldn't care less whether they are harming an officer or an animal and whilst I hope we don't hear of many such attacks, it is good that the law is now in place.

I was surprised when I heard that the crime used to be criminal damage. I signed Finn's petition - these dogs are essential members of any police force.

I think that Audi got a bravery medal in the last week or so - not that he would be bothered by that.

The sentence is risible. Five counts of assaulting a police officer and the offence against the police dog equals 21 months in nick = possibly 10 months locked up. What signal does this send out to the likes of this criminal. Do what you want and escape meaningful punishment?

So glad he was convicted, he sounds like a right POS, but tend to agree with the above comment.
