Well with Royalty's reputation you are probably correct Nellie.
//Surely it encourages hanky panky with other peoples partners though //

Lol.
Not if you have shown the same love, loyalty and commitment to your own for over 40 years. :-)
That's just what I thought YMF! When I go out with friends we don't plan our seating, we just go where we want and try to sit with those we relate to best. It works just fine. I hate those seating plans at formal dos.
Lol. Nothing formal about our BBQs. :-)
usual load of mouthy tosh from farage
Glad to hear it Retro :o)
I hate and loath "fixed" seating plans. The only time I can see them being of use is at state occasions, or possibly at something like a wedding and even then if I knew that one would be in operation, I would decline the invitation. If Meghan and Harry refused to comply at a less formal even then good on them, its about time they (seating plans) were consigned to the dustbin of history.
Now we know what woofgang would put into Room 101 ...
I shouldn't think Harry gives a stuff about his public popularity.

He still has a hell of a way to go before he reaches the depths of Farage's unpopularity.
What gives the right to pontificate on Harry, or any other member of the Royal Family ?
^him^ the
Ellipsis, room 101 wouldn't be big enough....I would need Wembly Stadium 101
"What gives the right to pontificate on Harry, or any other member of the Royal Family ?"

Same as the right of those on here to pontificate on Lord Farage on here.

You might not like it but it's still a free Country - and so is Aus.
ymb, the difference is what is posted here does not get splashed all over the media.
The same right that Harry,William and their father has to lecture us on Architectural Carbunbles,Global warming and carbon footprints, GM farming etc etc.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
That does hit the media.
Isn't there an old saying, a cat may pontificate at a queen ? Or something like that.
It's interesting that Mr Farage's observations on almost anything are regarded as less interesting than noting that the sun has risen this morning - until his remarks chime with the current media obsession that the Duchess is controlling / bolshy / ignorant / rude / attention-seeking - delete any, or none as you see fit.

The simple fact is, it is highly unlikely that the Duchess has fundamentally changed, apart from adapting to royal life and motherhood - it is the media who has changed, and is portraying her no longer as a wonderful breath of fresh air for the Royals, but as a manipulative hussy who is going to cause the end of civilisation as we know it.

I refer again, as I have previously, to the saga of the late Jade Goody who began her media profile as a mouthy slapper without two brain cells and a nasty line in racism, and ended up virtually beatified by the time of her tragic death.

Now I know and knew neither the Duchess, or Ms. Goody, but it's a reasonable assumption that Ms. Goody lacked the guile or indeed the ability to manipulate the media into such a startling volte face - the Duchess maybe more so, but since her every utterance and action is overseen by the machinery of royalty, I doubt she has anything do with the similar, but exactly reversed, attitude of the media towards her.

So what's the common factor between Ms Goody's rising stock from gobby tart to national treasure, and the Duchess's falling stock, from breath of fresh air to manipulative royalty destroyer?

Simple - the media itself, which conducts and orchestrates these campaigns.

The media would suggest that it merely reflects public opinion, whereas the reality, to anyone who looks objectively at the way it behaves - knows that it actually creates public opinion, and then pretends to reflect the very opinion it has manufactured.

Mr Faraage's unfortunate remarks are about as much based on actual personal evidence of the Duke and Duchess' behaviour and attitudes, as mine would be about the back side of the moon.

But because they chime with the current media character assassination of the Duchess, which is in full swing - they are swept along into the public eye as though they are credible, when clearly they are not.

I keep saying it, but but bears repeating - the only people who know any famous person well are their partner, family and close friends, and none of those include the media, who simply make up what they can use to sell papers.

It's fluff, it's nonsense, and it should be dismissed for what it is.
I've yet to see an explanation of the 'crimes' they're supposed to have committed. About as much as I can tell is that..

1 - A security bloke told someone to stop taking pictures of Meghan at Wimbledon.
2 - They didn't reveal the names of the kid's godparents.
3 - Harry said they planned on only having two kids.

Have missed anything? Probably, because I'm not particularly interested in what they get up to, and I don't read tabloids, but I have to say it's not exactly earth shatteringly wicked stuff.
It’s an odd sort of topic to be talking about while at a conference of right wing parties. They really have their finger on the pulse of what matters these people. Or how did this crop up in a conversation ...?
