I was going to tack this heart-warming news to aog's annual Notting Hill thread but it appears to be closed.

Seems there is no shortage of coppers either, 12,000 of them to patrol this 'event', lets hope we dont hear they dont have the man power to investigate crimes against the hard working man on the street. Danny, you seem to thing the stats are good. Does that alos apply the all the Police attacked and injured?

//"353 arrests out of an attendance of 2.5 million. " - oh that's alright then, why are there any at all, it's supposed to be a carnival, isn't it?//
In any gathering of that size there is going to be a little pocket of troublemakers. Very few huge carnivals, festivals, marches etc go ahead without any arrests.

Of course not,and I did not say that the stats were good, only that the arrests comprised only .03% of those attending. As far as the assaults on police goes, in my force if someone appeared in court for that offence he/she was more or less guaranteed to go down for six months, which I what I would hope would happen to anybody convicted of that offence.

Difficult to get numbers of attendees for Pride, as I counted 110 separate pride events taking place this year. As a result, the numbers of attendees per event is dwarfed by NHC and not really comparable.
I'd wager most Pride linked arrests are of Homophobes being abusive, so are not the fault of the marchers. I bet the coppers enjoy a good boogie at the various Prides. I went to one with my little boy a couple of years ago, everyone, gay and straight had a whale of a time.

// Strange why there are not the high crime figures at the Gay Pride events.//
