Most say skirts should reach "fingertip" level. Which can be a problem for girls with longer limbs. But in any case, clothing should not be allowed as a reason for adults to disrupt education.

Carry on, please, sqad :-). Personally, I would say they should cover underwear, for (I think) obvious reasons... however, teenagers' limbs grow faster, and sexualising them, because of what others might think, I believe is unhelpful.

Probably, Danny. I had to buy a brand new embroidered PE kit for my son, when he had less than 3 months left at school. I don't think that is reasonable. But choice obviously is.

They should change the rules, imo sqad. I know you and I will probably never agree on this. But I think they should stop teaching that you judge on appearances, or that it actually proves anything. The emphasis should be on behaviour, manners, respect, working, etc.
Anyway, your story.... ? :-)

Girls had very short skirts when I was in school. Nobody died.
Of course, religion didn't have such a big say in cultural matters back in the day.

I'm not sure it is entirely religion, spice- although that may be where it originated. But the idea that girls, even teenagers, should cover themselves up. I don't agree that should be necessary or appropriate.

My school had a very strict uniform code. Woe betide the head catching you rocking up without a cap ,beret or boater( in summer).
Course the discipline went to rats because a lot of the time it was the parents who bent the rules at the behest of their kids.

pixie..OK....the story.

I met a couple on holiday in Menorca.....he was a science teacher in a comprehensive school in the South of England, teaching 5th formers.
There were 3 precocious well endowed and developed girls who enjoyed lifting their skirts in a way that showed their crotches in order to detract the teacher.
he, the teacher complained to the head who brought it to the notice of the girls's parents. The girls denied this and accused the teacher of unwelcomed glances at their legs........the headmaster warned the teacher against such situations.
A week later one of the girls say the teacher trying to avoid contact with her lower parts, said out loud.
"Fancy a sg@ g Sir?
The girl then made a further complaint against the teacher and after a lengthy and unsavory investigation supported the teacher in his defense.

This was a real live situation in a school.

I'm not entirely sure that religion is behind this either, pixie. I just rather suspect it is. ;)
