What are those that voted against it or abstained, most worried about?
Losing the election or the Conservatives winning, which would show that the electorate are happy with a no deal.

I'm not saying they will but in general, if you don't ask, you don't get and the PM is willing to break the law and refuse to ask.
Johnny, you could always move it to the far left, if that is your predilection.
Is there any point to an extension. We have already had them and are no further forward now than we were on the day we were meant to leave in the first place. MPs are just using them as a way of keeping us in the EU.
Corby, or he might go and put the application in such a way that the Eu will reject it.I think that there are many more twists and turns to come.
DANNY, if the Queens Speech is defeated or the Government loses a VONC, unless the notice period is changed, the election would have to be after 31.10.19.
Corby //unless the notice period is changed//
As I said many more twists and turns to come. Our Boris is a devious fellow.
the QS is merely a program of the intentions of the government not actual legislation itself. If it doesn't get through it makes no difference, they can have a VONC anytime anyway and that'll generate a GE, so the VBQC are up the creek same as the government.
293 against 46 , What a defeat for Boris .
Six months ago the idea of Mr Corbyn being elected as PM was just out of the Question , but since Boris has taken over , Corbyn is starting to appear more electable;.
In 2017 Labour voted en masse for a GE despite the polls, so it doesn’t always follow that it goes by whether you think you’ll win or not.
By suspending parliament and dismissing from the parliamentary party so many of his own MPs, and what’s more being suspected of dishonesty in his reasons for doing the former and his claims about talks with the EU, parliament has simply decided to fight by refusing to do things his way.
He has massively miscalculated.
Of course 293 to 46 was a vote in favour of the motion.
Just thought I’d point that out in the interests of balance :-)
Nevertheless is that played 6 lost 6? I’ve lost count.
Has a PM ever held office without ever winning a vote in Parliament?
>but since Boris has taken over , Corbyn is starting to appear more electable.
How do you come to that conclusion? Why not have a GE then ?
Instead of it being 2 thirds of all MPs having to vote in favour maybe it should have been 2 thirds of the ones that could be bothered to turn up and do their job. They seem to think their only job is to make sure we don't leave.
Gully, the 293 was for Boris, he won that vote as he did the last one on a GE.
Read TCL 08.58......... JOHNSON is slimey and a proven liar and can not be trusted. OK.
" .. JOHNSON is slimey and a proven liar and can not be trusted. OK."

And you think Corbyn can? How can you trust anybody who continually asks for something and then when it's offered turns it down. Not only can he be trusted he doesn't even make sense.
Remainer MPs have insufficient confidence that their claims of gaining in a GE are true so can not bring themselves to vote for one too early in case the government gains instead. Plus if the PM chooses the GE date they fear that may allow the people's decision to come to fruition at Halloween, which they wish to prevent as it'd stop their antidemocratic antics and allow the nation to get on again.

Thanks for the answers so far. I’ll have to check for any others this evening.

Personally, I think the opposition are scared of both losing a GE and being told through the ballot box that a no deal is acceptable.
When Boris mentioned a General Election some days ago, Corbyn was like a rabbit caught in the headlights. For all his bluster in continually demanding an election, he knows he can't win. He's been offered the chance and he's scared. Putting his money where his mouth is isn't his forte.
If Johnson won an election early enough he could simply repeal the law.
If an election is held with us still in the EU Johnson’s position, if he is still there, is much weaker, and the Tories are prey to the Brexit Party who current polls suggest would wipe out the government’s current poll lead.
In fact even that is not necessarily a reliable pointer, depending on how tactically people might have voted. The days of uniform national
swings seem to be over and elections much more unpredictable.
