Remainer MPs have insufficient confidence that their claims of gaining in a GE are true so can not bring themselves to vote for one too early in case the government gains instead. Plus if the PM chooses the GE date they fear that may allow the people's decision to come to fruition at Halloween, which they wish to prevent as it'd stop their antidemocratic antics and allow the nation to get on again.

swings seem to be over and elections much more unpredictable.
