The debate on Jeremy Vine is
Should the voting age be lowered to 16 as these young people are the future of the planet
They can join the army
They can get married

But are they well equipped to know exactly what there voting for?

Spath... if you went Bryan alone, it is generally older men who are the most touchy, offended and emotional. I am willing to be proven wrong by your links though (depending where they are from, obvs) x
?? "Went by AB alone". *** autocorrect lol.
"For example, the brain continues to mature beyond the age of 20, working faster and more efficiently."

16 is four years before the age of 20.
// its not until they get older that they realise what a big mistake they've made.//

or the making of them.!
We know that... but nobody is suggesting it should be 25. This is (usually) about what people want for themselves... there is no logical reason why an 18 year old automatically knows that better than a 16 year old.
Even if they have less mature brains, emotionally.... that doesn't necessarily mean their wishes should be irrelevant. We will always have 16 year olds in the country.
"why an 18 year old automatically knows that better than a 16 year old."

Yes there is. Because they are older, more experienced and knowledgeable.
"they have less mature brains, emotionally"

Exactly.
Who will represent the younger teenagers, then?
The 18 year olds. Or... no one. You know.. as has been the case for... forever.
Tradition has never been an excuse for not making changes.
OK lets make the voting age 13 then.
If it was... neither you or I would be allowed to vote.
Ok. Anyone old enough to know their own views and stand up for them... sounds fair.
Retro, with respect the program I was watching last night, 80% of x army have mental health problems, so that's not making them, but destroying them.
"Ok. Anyone old enough to know their own views and stand up for them... sounds fair."

We'll have people voting because they like the colour blue. Ridiculous.

I think the brexit vote proves we can't trust people to make sensible decisions.. especially the youth.
Lol. You are nearly as funny as Jim:-) xx
Pixie using your reasoning "Whatever reasons a 16 year old has, are just as valid as an 18 year old's. " Why can't an 8 year old vote?

I didn't realise , but Scotland has already lowered their voting age to 16
Maybe they should... except they probably wouldn't understand the manifesto, for very young children, they rely on their parents to put their needs first- and the vast majority do.
Once you are old enough to think for yourself, and know... it makes sense to have a say- they are part of the population as much as we are.
