Are they having a Turkish? Who does their costings, the abacus? People are living longer and care will be a huge future cost as it is, £6bn, much much more than that to offer free care to the over 65s. I forgot how much fun Labour conference week is!

//The devil, as always, will be in the detail.//

The link is wrong, the detail is always in the devil...
has diane abbott been doing the auditing again?
Words are cheap.
They're probably spending the billions we'll save when we come out of the EU...
Oh, erm, hang on a minute...
TTT, you are correct - there is a pressing need to take the NHS in the opposite direction before the illusion that all treatment can for all time be free for everyone anywhere in all circumstances on demand. The original classic concept, laudable as it was, is unworkable and the collapse is already under way - the free service is becoming worse and worse because the aim is unaffordable. The old/present NHS is doomed simply by the weight of practicalities. The inevitable is simply being put off at the expense of patients' lives.
Free prescriptions for English people. Mental.
As has been stated before, when not in power anything and everything goes as far as pledges go.

Trouble is, with this Labour lot, if they did get in power they would do it and wreck the economy!
Save billions - cull the over-65s! That's Jezza & McD gone for starters.
I propose an alternative whereby an elderly person sells their home and all their assets and pays for their elderly care themselves with their own money.

If they have no assets to sell, they get no care.

dave and Gromit that is very benevolent of you both unless you are trying to make a joke?
You prescribe the same for yourselves then?

Whoooosh!
He'd better do more than that. John McDonell just spent twelfty trillion quid.
I dont think Labour are doing any planning. They are simply doing what they did before the last election and promising the world (Mainly to those that dont pay, or have not paid, anything into society). No doubt they will do the same as they did before and deny they meant it?
