Give it up, for goodness sake, andy. He was an Islamist terrorist.
Spicerack - // Give it up, for goodness sake, andy. He was an Islamist terrorist. //

At the time TTT posted his OP, and at the time I am posting this, that has not been confirmed, so I am not about to 'give it up' as you put it.

Dangerous unfounded assumptions based on personal prejudices are the bedrock of terrorist thinking - they have no place in a civilised society.
The anti-terror police think he was a terrorist. That's good enough for me.

Two different News links stating the multiple murderer was a convert to Islam. There are loads more.
Oh dear Andy-Hughes. We all owe you an apology. How wrong is it to make obvious assumptions to prove the killer was of an Islamic persuasion in Paris. Who was wrong?
Islami
retrocop - // Two different News links stating the multiple murderer was a convert to Islam. There are loads more. //

Being a convert to Islam makes him a Muslim, it does not make him a Jihadist.

As I said, my argument is not that TTT may be proved right in his assumption that this man was a Jihadist, merely that it is wrong to make an assumption based on bext to no evidence, and that absence of evidence is clear in the link that TTT attached.

// Oh dear Andy-Hughes. We all owe you an apology. //

I don't believe you do, but I'll take it anyway.

// How wrong is it to make obvious assumptions to prove the killer was of an Islamic persuasion in Paris. //

It's wrong because 'obvious assumptions' and proof are two separate entities, and you can;t use one to provide the other.

// Who was wrong? //

TTT and anyone else who jumped to prejudiced conclusions based on no evidence.

As I said, that kind of prejudicial thinking, based on nothing more than a personal antipathy towards an entire faith structure, is exactly the same thought process that makes Jihadists act as they do.

It's not big or clever to be a bigot.
From what I've read - it's somewhere in the litter of newspapers on the table ready to be cleared - he worked in the IT section at the gendarmerie and his boss was also a civilian lady with whom he had clashed on several occasions. She was the administrator he killed first and the others followed when officers reacted. I'm not clear on whether she took him to task or not - but as a convert to Islam he will have found being subject to a woman fairly galling. That's all I can say from what I've read. As a female, I dread Islamic ideas gaining ground.

Neither is an apologist for the scourge of Islam and the hatred it engenders.

I don't know why people are discussing the lies printed in yesterday's papers. The anti-terror police have found links to terrorist groups and taken over the enquiry.

I am unsure whom you think is an 'apologist' for 'the scourge of Islam' as you so poetically put it - and your link is from a sensationalist rag, and hardly adds weight to your argument.
RETRO, you cannot "make obvious assumptions to prove" anything since an assumption is "something that is accepted as true without proof."

An assumption may turn out to be correct but that is only because new evidence has been provided.

ok ladies, spare me the handwringing, is this islamic terrorism or not?
Was there any proof when you made you'd claim?
Question Author
so it is then, it's 99% likely at the start so I'll take that rather than the TROB skirting round the obvious. Don't worry ladies I'll go easy.

Unlike TROLL - 10 attempts already this month.
You're pretty offensive, TTT.
Question Author
i'm offensive?? how? you mean I was correct! gawd, I find apologists for terrorists are offensive sweatheart. Still I managed to get a tweet out of canary, who never returns even to his own BS threads.
Question Author
quite naomi but TFOJ did their best.
"people like AH and TCL, they, by default, deny their murderous outrages based on their own desires to love the terrorist. "

I love the terrorist? That is an outrageous claim even by your own standards.
