Parliament is meant to be sovereign and if anything is done against its interests Parliament is meant to be the final arbiter not the judiciary.

Parliament has many remedies for perceived wrongdoing at its disposal, such as Votes of No Confidence and impeachment, but the current political pygmies now rush headlong towards the courts instead... this will come back to haunt future parliaments.

The Sottish Court of Session in Edinburgh is the only Court in the UK which has the power of 'Nobile Officium', which it is being alleged could be used for the Clerk of the Court to send a letter to the EU
requesting an extension to the Brexit date.

Does that suggest that they can only ask for Scotland to have an extension ?
Maggie there are some who would prefer they were ‘our royals’, you can’t tell me everyone north of the border would refer to them as theirs?
As i understand it, whatever decision is arrived at by the Court of Sessions in Scotland can be Appealed at the UK's Supreme Court. Not a happy position for the PM.

They're assuming he's going to just refuse to do it, even if it means breaking the law, and I'd be surprised if hasn't considered that as an option.

If they can establish in advance that there'd be a hefty price to pay, it would serve to deter him from that course of action, which is what they're trying to do.

He's probably planning to send it by second class post at 1 minute to midnight on the 31st. That might be what they mean by "testing the limit of what is lawfully required."

the problem is that maggie et al have such an ingrained hatred of the English that they see things that are not there.
You are seeing things that aren't there if you think all the Judges are Scots. I see papers submitted to the Court say the PM WILL ask for an extension if need be.
