Of course we need a second referendum. Two PMs have failed to do what they were mandated to do by the first referendum. Meanwhile, in those 3 years the electorate has changed - many of the oldies have died while many new voters who weren't old enough to vote last time have come into the fold. The outcome second time round would be very different.

diddlydo the reason they have failed is because remainers like yourself have refused to accept the result of that referendum. On your other reason the electorate will always change as people die and others become old enough to vote that is something that will always happen. We voted to leave in the referendum so if you believe in democracy then that result needs to be acted on. Please don't say that the vote wasn't democratic because not everyone voted. We all had the chance to vote and if they couldn't be bothered to vote that was their choice.

Many of the oldies may have died while many young voters will have been enlightened and change their mind, many remain voters will be disgusted at the denial of democracy and switch and new voters who weren't old enough to vote last time have come into the fold. The outcome second time round may be be very different, it may be overwhelming to leave. However the act of even holding a second is such a slap in the face of democracy most MPs, even ardent remoaner MPs, know not to be so foolish; especially as it'd solve nothing and merely make even greater divisions in the nation.

Of course we shouldn't have a second referendum. The government wrote to us all, delivered to our door, promising to carry out what we decided.

It was pointed out in parliament yesterday that a certain MP called Jo Swinson called for a in out referendum several years ago. Now this 'democrat' wants to ignore that result.

I always said I'd never vote again, but I meant in a GE and that still stands, but in the case of another referendum (God forbid!), then yes I will vote again because if all of us 'leavers' don't vote again, remain WILL win next time and you can bet your life that will be the end of it then, unlike the present farce that has gone on and on and on and on …..

Indeed it is, Jim. Around 55% (440,000) people in NI voted to remain so comparatively few compared to the >17m people who voted to leave across the UK. Not even in NI where Brexit will probably have as great an impact as anywhere could the Remain campaign muster much more of a majority. Yet it is consideration for those few hundred thousand people which is causing the Irish border fiasco. I’m not in the least bit interested in the people in the Republic as far as this issue goes. They must do what their EU masters tell them and that’s their business. In the “entire country” Leave prevailed and it’s about time it was properly recognised.
