the problem rests with the train builders, who are having problems, with the result that the old trains with flush toilets cannot be withdrawn (to do so would not mean "possible cancellations" but cancellations on a scale not even seen during last year's disastrous timetable change). this article dates from early this year, but nothing has changed.
