why on earth anyone would want to vote for a party who increased level of income tax to higher than the rest of the UK beats me. Her and Salmond once said vote for us and we'll get rid of council tax. Well, they were voted in an you'll never guess, wait for it, they didn't. Shock, horror. An arrogant woman who appears to regard herself not only as a main player on the political world stage but as a latter day William Wallace looking for a prominent place in history as the saviour of the Scots. Just one snag. His fight was justified – she, on the other hand, doesn’t know which side Scotland’s bread is buttered. The Scots need to kick her into the long grass once and for all. Times have changed.
Independence would be a (financial) disaster.
Scotland has been heavily subsidised by the rest of the UK for the last 20 years at least - £15 billion in 2015/2016 :

I love Scotland, and I like (by and large) the Scots. I have no wish to change the current fiscal balance - it's manageable and worthwhile whilst Scotland is in the UK.
I also recognise that Scotland is fully entitled to decide to leave the UK - although I'd rather it didn't - but if it does go, then all bets are off on subsidy and I'm afraid my (not very funny) jibe of "Greece without the Sunshine" will be all too true.

One of the problems with the English posters on this site is that they don't seem to grasp that the whole raison d'etre for the SNP is independence. Interesting tweet from a member of the SNPs today. "Serious Question. Is it actually legal to broadcast a political debate into homes in Scotland which excludes @theSNP but includes the very small Libdem party? Whose "leader" is actually contesting a Scottish seat?"
