'Former minister Ian Austin has urged "decent, traditional voters" to back Boris Johnson in the upcoming General Election.

He claimed that "Jeremy Corbyn is totally unfit to lead this country" and Labour's economic policies "would leave our country worse off".

The former Minister for the West Midlands, who resigned the Labour whip in February, admitted: "I'm not a Tory, this isn't where I want to be." '

Will all of ABs, "decent, traditional voters" follow suit?

Amazes me that any sane person would consider voting for Corbyn's Labour.
I'm not a Tory, but vote Johnson? :o) LOL!
It would be a chilly one in Hell before I vote Tory.
He is probably right on the first bit, Corbyn would be a terrible Prime Minister. - But Johnson IS a terrible PM.

If Labour voters are going to desert, then they are more likely to go LibDem not Tory.
I'm not a Tory at heart, never voted for them. I voted Labour for years until Blair/Brown. And I would probably vote LibDem now except for their policy on Brexit. That leaves the Brexit Party & since they have no chance of winning here (or probably anywhere) I won't vote. Hard left Labour would set this country on a path to destruction.
Even a cursory look reveals many more options than a bumbling liar in a crumpled suit.
I’m a Labour supporter and early Corbyn fan, but even I can see he’d be a terrible PM. I agree with posters above. Johnson is a terrible PM. It would be laughable if weren’t so awful.
I’d rather eat my own feet than vote Tory. LibDem aren’t perfect by any means but they’re getting my vote, mostly because of Brexit. Also I like our LD candidate. She was very good when she was MP before.

Gromit; //If Labour voters are going to desert, then they are more likely to go LibDem not Tory.//

Why would anyone let alone a Labour voter, vote for a party that wishes to renege on the democratic vote of the British people?
They don't even want, unlike Labour (I think!), want another referendum. They wish to treat 14 plus million voters with complete contempt.
I think people are being a bit unfair to judge any PM who has only been in office for such a short time.
// In February 2019 he left the Labour Party to become an Independent. On 19 March MPs passed a motion put forward by Labour to remove Austin from his seat on the Foreign Affairs Select Committee which was part of the Labour Party's allocation. //

Ah, he has a grudge.
Note that the OP is quoting from The Daily Torygraph.
Gromit //ah, he has a grudge.//
Does that make his opinion any less valid ?. It was Momentum who were trying to oust him.
well I suppose someone in labour has sense.

To all those saying Johnson is a terrible PM, on what basis? He's been in for a few weeks with a minority government, hamstrung by Quislings at every turn, I don't see how he's had any sort of chance to be a PM in the traditional sense.

Anstin voted Remain, and does not want a second Referendum, which is LibDem Policy.

dannyk13,
Johnson has only been in office a short time, but he rapidly broke records for losing votes in Parliament, losing the party’s majority, losing its MPs, expulsions and losing Court cases.
And he’s a liar.
I mean a massive liar, not just the usual politician fudging.
Gromit, see TTT's post at 08.30. I still maintain that he ha snot been PM long enough to make a fair assessment, but then I don't expect that from you.
gromit: "Johnson has only been in office a short time, but he rapidly broke records for losing votes in Parliament" - you can't be that thick gromit, when you have are a minority and the the house is packed with VBQC that's what happens, you lose votes. Tell me how he could have won them then?
who are you going to vote for Gromit?
Well I don't know if he's good, bad or ugly but I heard him on R4 this morning and found his words very moving. Either he's a very good politician or he genuinely feels as he feels.
