It's a shame, with the farce that is brexit, that the conservative government have put almost everything else on the back burner.

Of course there are thousands of homes being built and sold (even as i type this, i can hear the diggers at the top of my street where a dozen bungalows are to be built). But none of them are part of the 2015 election promise made by David Cameron. And this info hasn't come from some loony lefty newspaper. It's from the National Audit Office. the money put aside for...

There is a case of kind of "natural selection" with that, I guess. We will end up making Britain so unpleasant and poor, that people will move out just to escape. I personally, and maybe selfishly, don't want it to get to that point. I would prefer an actual plan of how many people and houses, schools, hospitals, etc etc that we can actually support. This is not a huge country.
It's what happens when the State becomes involved in matters which should be left to private enterprise. It is especially likely when the State tries to intervene and "skew" the market. Governments are not very good at building houses or even at getting others to do it for them.
The reason there is a housing crisis is not because there are too few houses; it's because there are too many people. The State won't do anything about that so the "crisis" will continue.
//We don't stop. We start to build upwards, like japan.//
As noted, we already do. If you think "one or two" high rise blocks in Stoke is acceptable, take a look in London, especially in the East End and areas adjacent to the river.
Of course, once we've "built upwards" perhaps we should consider a few new hospitals "upwards". A twenty-five story block full of wards and operating theatres and beds full of sick and infirm people. Then one of them catches fire and your "evacuate immediately" plan (as you proposed for Grenfell) comes into play.
Then of course there is the water shortage we are continually warned off. A few vertical reservoirs, perhaps? Clue (again): think things through properly. Only governments have the luxury of not having to do so.

//Retro, I don't want to live in a high rise. A detached two story house with an attik would be nice.//
Unfortunately in life, you don't always get what you want unless you get off your backside and work hard for it. I didn't particularly want to live in London but that is where my job was and I was not permitted to buy a nice detached bungalow in the sticks. If there is no work where you are you can move can't you?You are still quite young. It doesn't appear ,from your other threads today, that as CEO of your Gardening Business you are not doing so well.I suggest you go into voluntary liquidation and consider a career elsewhere. At your age the world's your lobster. :-)
I don't believe the lack of any new 'start-up' builds can be put down to Brexit, spath. The promise was made by David Cameron as part of the 2015 election campaign. The referendum was held just over a year after the election; 7 May 15 - 23 Jun 16. 13 months during which not a 'single start-up' was built.
Not necessarily. He found a house with a friend and joined an agency, pretty much willing to do anything they offered. And as the houses are so cheap there (he rented first to find his feet), it was much easier then, to buy a house.
I really wouldn't honestly hang around in the hope someone offers you a "cheap house" here. Have a look around xx
