When the government says that it is borrowing money from the Magic Money Tree doesn't it mean that they are borrowing from themselves? After all they will be getting the money from the Bank of England and they do own that bank .Unless I have got it wrong it's a bit like having money tucked away under the mattress and borrowing a bit now and then. Whether you put it back or not is another matter.
