over British Military in Afghanistan and Iraq. They are claiming that
British service personnel have committed acts of murder, which sounds
extreme - what are your thoughts on whether soldiers who go to war should be prosecuted for doing their job. I will watch the programme.

There are standards and things defined as war crimes. War crimes is not a part of a soldier's job, so if there is evidence it should be looked at.

i do agree OG, it's just that no matter what our service men and women do it seems to be wrong. at least according to some sections of the media.
//what are your thoughts on whether soldiers who go to war should be prosecuted for doing their job.//

My immediate thoughts are that it is those who send them to war under a false claim are the one who should be prosecuted as a war criminal.

My second thought is that soldiers do not run around gung ho but operate under strict rules of engagement. Something the enemy can ignore. Particularly as the terrorists are in Mufti.

My third thought is that any government who continues witch hunts on the very organisations they call upon regularly in times of internal problems they will not find the disciplined units such willing saviours in the future. (Dustmen's strike, operation Burberry,Ambulance drivers strike, Flooding all over the UK, Dams in danger of breaching etc etc etc. )

retro, but if civilians and children were killed as alleged then surely someone should be accountable.
Further to my above post. A lot of the involvement our military engages in brings nothing but Kudos to HMG. I am thinking of humanitarian rescue in the Carribean, The Royal Navy assistance in refugee rescue, The RAMC hospitals set up in zones to combat E-Bola.
Lol. I doubt if many Ministers ventured to those areas on their fact finding missions!

of course they do a sterling job, but in times of war...
things can get out of hand.
// The UK government and army have been accused of covering up torture, sexual abuse and child killings by troops in Afghanistan and Iraq.

A year-long investigation by BBC Panaroma and The Sunday Times is claimed to have uncovered evidence of murder by an SAS soldier, as well as deaths in custody, beatings, torture and sexual abuse of detainees by members of Scottish regiment the Black Watch.

A senior SAS commander was also referred to prosecutors for attempting to pervert the course of justice, according to leaked documents that had been kept secret by the government. //

Serious allegations which have to be refuted or it is a stain on all of us.

I note one Iraqi policeman was singled out as allegedly shot by a UK soldier. There was and then there wasn't an eye witness.
Do you know how many times that policemen and soldiers of the Iraqi and Afghan army have turned rogue and shot UK and US troops in the TOO?
Trial by BBC. No I think not. There was a shyster Lawyer running around Iraq offering inducements to Iraquis to give false witness statements against troops. This investigation is another witch hunt and it stinks. Women and children do die in war unfortunately.
Usually through faulty intel. Saddam's Command bunker received a direct hit with a Bunker Buster bomb.
The bunker was allegedly an air raid shelter and scores of women and children were killed.
Do you think that might of been a regime propaganda coup. They deliberately put those people in there knowing the outcry if it was bombed as an obvious target? Perhaps Bush and Blair could tell you that but in the BBC I do not trust.
Source? Would you believe the marxist Beep Beep See. Cheerleader of all things anti British and dedicated to the denigration of all our cherished establishments.

no Gromit, not all of us, we are civilians sitting on our little computers making like we know what they are doing or going through. We don't.
Question Author
its been a year long investigation, some should actually read the link...
retrocop; "...soldiers...operate under strict rules of engagement". It's been my experience that staying within such rules wasn't always the case. Not saying we ever unlawfully killed anyone but we sometimes did 'what we had to do' to 'get results'. "...they will not find the disciplined units such willing saviours in the future." Again, speaking through experience, it's always been my impression that our armed forces do as they're told.
Seeing as how this investigation was not solely carried out by the BEEB, i'll watch it and make my own mind up as to it's validity.

Ken as will I
God,hasnt the Beeb got nothing to report other than anti-British lies? You would have thought that after Cliffgate and Savillegate they would have learned some lessons.Never mind,us licence payers will have to pick up the bill yet again.
Question Author
It's not just the BBC though is it??
No,its a bunch of ambulance chasers,Emmie.A nice bit of compensation due to some liars, courtesy of me and you.
If my memory serves me well, ( correct me if I'm wrong) Piers Morgan lost his job as editor, many moons ago for similar claims ??
Wasnt there a few years back a so-called charity or sect calling themselves CAGE who also made similar fabrications and were paid millions of pounds to be paid to these liars out in Iraq. However the liars out in Iraq were never paid, and these chancers in CAGE made themselves bankrupt and then walked away with OUR money. The liars out in Iraq got *** all for their lies.Serves them right.
collateral damage, i do not think, our soldiers would kill indiscriminately.. so called gung ho tactics, i do not believe it, but chancer law firms will try anything to fill there coffers.
just a continuation of the lefty witch hunt that's been going on over the last few years. Lefties hate the forces.....till they need them of course.
