'Years & years & years', say the politicians, but why leave it to such a shower, what do they know & what experience do they have of business? I read a top German business honcho saying the other day, "Put 15 of us in a room & we'll sort it out in an afternoon", obviously an intended exaggeration, but do you get his drift?
I do get his drift. Unfortunately, business cannot operate independent of trade deals, whether that be EU tariffs WTO rules or whatever. So I think the mystery German was talking
Pferdescheiße.
Just because they try to keep is in by dragging their heels doesn't mean we have to go along with it. If Boris a) wins a majority and b) sticks to his date of end 2020 for a deal, then they are faced with 'pull your fingers out and do a deal' or 'no deal, sorry, bye'. Fingers crossed. :)
Michel Barnier is a career politician, never worked one day in industry or business in his life, gets paid an astonishing salary with all expenses & would like the negotiations to play out for, 'Years & years & years' creating enormous uncertainty in the real world.
This is why Farage, who knows the EU better than anyone, has been so adamant on a 'clean break', then sorting it out with alacrity.
Yes it makes sense for the EU to fanny about with the arrangements for its members to trade with the bloc's single biggest trading partner. I'm sure it will do everybody the world of good. That's why Mr Farage's idea of a clean break is best all round. We don't really want to become involved with people who lack pragmatism that much.
An acknowledgement that we’re in the EU? Well, we still are. I suspect many remain voters are going to vote LibDem as a tactic to get a hung parliament and Boris be unable to implement a hard brexit .
I work for an UK company that was the global leader in its field, up until a couple of years ago we were raking it in and we were cash rich...
Then
Brexit.
Now we're struggling to stay afloat, Nobody wants to buy from us because the stuff we make needs to be shipped to us in the UK and back out again after every use (Mil spec and broadcast spec stuff)
It's lovely that all the retired people voted to screw over the actual UK companies that work in a world market because they won't need to deal with the fallout.
Chuck; I thought you were long-gone, good to see you back (perhaps all our computers will now run better :0)
I think your company might be suffering from uncertainty rather than policy. Once Brexit is done, all these issues can be dealt with positively I hope & you will soon be a world-leader again.
