The Parole Board said it had no involvement in Khan's release, saying he "appears to have been released automatically on licence (as required by law)".
i would give whole life tarriffs for terror related matters
I don’t believe that information has been released yet, somethings take time.
Not only out of prison "on licence", but attending an all expenses paid banquet at the Grade 2 listed Fishmonger's Hall with views overlooking the Thames. A banquet hosted by Learning Together and linked to the luvvies at Cambridge University. They never do learn though do they?
//They never do learn though do they?//

No, Togo, they don’t - and I doubt they ever will. Anyone involved in any way in terrorism should never be given the benefit of the doubt. They should be removed from society for life.
agree, as i said their whole life in prison, then they can't do this kind of attack.
Those like him that hate us, hate our country but are happy to stay here even if they were born here, should be returned to the Land of their Fathers ( as they must hold dual nationality? ) and be left to serve their sentence in the hell holes of India and Pakistan
In 2012, he was sentenced to indeterminate detention for "public protection" with a minimum jail term of eight years.

So, as you say, Tora, how can he be out?
Maybe New Judge can explain?
We cannot execute this dross lest there may be some mistake.
Two innocent deaths as a result. That’s no mistake and I doubt their families will see it that way this Christmas.
Will be interesting to see whether any political parties try to capitalise on this by promising tougher ‘life means life’ sentences.
"In 2012, he was sentenced to indeterminate detention for "public protection" with a minimum jail term of eight years.

This sentence would have allowed him to be kept in prison beyond the minimum term.

But in 2013 the Court of Appeal quashed the sentence, replacing it with a 16-year-fixed term of which Khan should serve half in prison."

Hopefully there will be no money wasted on enquires about this shooting trying to vilify the policeman who shot him.
Frightening. Reform has to happen in light of this.
Well, he wont be able to harm anyone else ever again.
Well it looks like Ms Abbott has been doing the Maffs.

When I was at school half of 16 is 8 and 8 added ro 2012 would be 2020.

So how is he out, automatically or not?

Questions need to be asked, we need name and shame and some sackings.

Leftie liberal have a lot to anser for within the Judiciary system. They seem to be able to interpret Governent laws in a manner certinly not in the spirit to which they were passed.

I think laws need to be full sentences. No parole. If the judge thinks only 8 years is requierd then pass eight and not 16. At present we are being hoodwinked.
we are, in some cases the law is an ass.
I feel sorry for the guy pictured on the front of today's Telegraph with a knife, and blood on his hands. Other papers have pixelated his face, but the Telegraph did not, and anyone looking at their front page would assume he was the perpetrator - he was actually one of the brave bystanders who tackled the Islamist fanatic.
Now he is identifiable he might well be a target for other Islamists.
The law will never be perfect and will never be always right.

But where we are at the moment the sentencing is not fit for purpose.

If we need more jails, due to population increase or whatever, then lets build them. Or Third party these sort out to Thailand ot Turkey in their jails for a handsome sum.
"So how is he out, automatically or not?"
My pure guess was that if wearing a monitor it counted as being inside ? Seems no one was monitoring though. System needs a shake up.
Agree OG, from the top down starting with the dismissal of all liberal minded judges.
