If Mr Johnson wants to decline an invitation to any interview that's up to him, but to be called out/challenged like that is poor imo.
Also, if he wants to accept it, then that's fine too.

Journalists hate it when people don't co-operate with them. They fly into a rage and do childish things like putting a block of ice or a tub of lard in place of the disrespectful person that spoilt their story.

Boris Johnson is ahead in the polls. He can only damage that by doing an interview with Neil, so from his point of view it makes sense not to do it.

Why did he tell Andrew Marr last Sunday, “I am perfectly happy to be interviewed by any interviewer called Andrew from the BBC, and we will make sure that [happens].”?

Can he not be taken at his word?

What is truly unbelievable is that in a few more days Mr Johnson will not be the PM.

I suppose it should be accepted that no hopers, wannabees and also rans with pie in the sky aspirations have loads of time on their hands to try and grandstand on the TV. Meanwhile the captain at the helm has currently more important things to deal with like running the country and HMG. He is answerable to his boss when required and not Andrew Neil.
