There have been times in the past when the Tory party ceased to look credible or able to recover. But things change. Without a different credible main opposition party waiting in the wings, any damage to existing will heal. Folk need an alternative at the polls, not a single party nation.

Tory lite is unlikely to fool people twice, at least not in living memory. Tory voters aren't likely to desert their preferred party and vote Labour just because some Labour leader opts to abandon their party's principles in a quest for power: again.

Jess Phillips is great but I think at heart she’s a maverick and I’m not sure she had the temperament to be leader
I can see the party now splitting; if it looks as tho the NEC and the members are hell bent on continuing the herd left path then it’ll happen.

in 5 years time the political land scape will be totally change what with brexit well and truley done and accepted with hs2 half completed 1 gig broadband for everybody a fantastic nhs with loads of new hospitals no waiting times and free parking at these hospitals no more need for food banks everybody employed with decent hour contracts and a living wage, the pensions and free bus for pensioners with decent saving rates of interest , and the best economy in the whole wide world then we will all be happy and contented living in paradise and no need for any opposition parties

Abandoning their principles to gain power is exactly what the Tories have done.
It works. Worked for Disraeli at a time of crisis for the Tories, it worked for Blair for Labour, and now for BJ

Depends which way labour want to play it. At present they still think it's to media and Brexit not their ridiculous hand out policies that anyone with half a brain know just isnt feasible in the short to medium term so would only ever be half done.

I'd think they would be most likely to pick a woman, so Jess if they come to their senses and go moderate otherwise it will be a COB without a beard.
