according to the news on now, there are approx 170 thousand people who are deemed to be homeless, either sleeping on the streets, or living in hostels,
B&B's and shelters.
this is a disgrace whichever way you look at it.
what can be done to help those who find themselves in this position.

Less large buildings like unused mills etc , being turned into luxury pads and more for social housing

but find this disturbing..
More night shelters, better access to mental health services etc are all factors and many more - whether in London or anywhere in the Country.

the government are ploughing in 1 billion to help with this, but feel this is just the tip of the iceberg..
more shelters are needed, but there seems to be a lack of affordable housing.
^^^ Oh well, better twice than not at all, perhaps.

this was specific to the capital, though i know that country wide there are massive amounts of people who are homeless..
One always needs to look at the whole issue, we don't all live in London.
280,000 is less than a year's worth of net immigration. Where are next year's incomers going to live?

I always wondered where all the Cockneys had gone.

not me that's for sure, they all moved out to Essex and beyond.
Why would they do that Emmie? Every Cockney that I ever met absolutely loved London.
'Care in the Community' -in other words put out on the streets those who should be incarcerated in mental hospitals, has a lot to do with it. Yes more social housing is needed, but also more mental health hospitals.
One in alley behind shop & another in bin room of flats. Both young men with needles strewn around them.

having been in several mental health hospitals, they aren't nice, pleasant places to be, many are old with poor facilities. Surely we can do better than that.

I love and hate in equal measure the city of my birth.
it has such inequality. Or is that everywhere..
