Looks like scotland is the place to do a bank job from now on, then:

I do have a recently improved view of lecky jam jars but my worries do remain. If we are to go over, wholesale to electric vehicles then we need to massively increase our generation output.
I went in a Tesla Model 3 a few weeks ago and that's the fastest accelerating car I've ever been in. It was getting into Bike territory. So I imagine plod tried to do it on the cheap.
Nothing wrong with being eco friendly with non response cars. my Neighbour has a dual fuel car, battery and diesel so the best of both worlds.
TTT saw a report this morning that said we will have over production overload possibility of 40% within the next 20 years from renewable energy sources.

Well, they were only trying to comply with Sadiq Khan's directive. It reminded me of the days when the East German police had Trabants & were once outpaced by bank-robbers on bicycles who got away.
yes Tesla 3 is quick 0 to 60 in 6.3 secs I thought my Renault 5 GT Turbo was pretty quick at 7.5 secs !!!!
Well if it's not good enough for the police...

Clear that the tech isn't up to scratch with a dominant and long lasting agreed standard yet.
Not to mention we probably need a few more nuclear power stations to ensure supply.
the police have many more vehicles than are used for fast chasing (how fast could a criminal actually go round london for example anyway?) i nearly bought and electric car last time and it was as fast as a petrol car, and as mentioned previously they have superior acceleration (or so it seemed when i was test driving them). i would put forward the opinion that high speed chases only really make up a small amount of police car usage
It's not clear from the report in your link as to whether the vehicles were ever intended to be used as emergency response vehicles. It could be that, just like ambulance services (where there are emergency ambulances and far cheaper patient transport ambulances), the police recognised that some vehicles don't need to be used in emergency situations (such as the vehicles used by forensics teams), enabling them to purchase eco-friendly vehicles to be used for such purposes.
Ahh bless. Another virtue signalling exercise that exposes the incompetence of our civil service. Don't suppose that many of the "new breed" of coppers know how to ride a bike let alone ride it fast enough to power the lights on one. How many of the numbskulls who wasted taxpayers money with this naive judgement call do you suppose have been taken to task? None or less? How about plod being issued with horse and cart "green machines" to chase the villains? With a posse of bucket and spade technicians to follow up the inevitable fallout. Or maybe they could use wind powered buggies with nice rainbow coloured sails. Oohh they would like that alright. "So woke whilst going for broke" is the new logo.
When I served In self service garage in around 1974 local bobby used to come in on his bike to warm up and have a cup of tea/

Yeah and all the half wit saps who are daft enough to get into an electric mobility scooter to play eco sweeney with the terrorists and scum bags will be doing the same.
tony: "yes Tesla 3 is quick 0 to 60 in 6.3 secs I thought my Renault 5 GT Turbo was pretty quick at 7.5 secs !!!! " - much quicker Tony, 3.9.
