it is indeed amusing that some of our residents cannot see the irony of the situation. The so called "dim" PM has outsmarted their intellectual heavyweight! A buffoon he may appear, a buffoon he most certainly is not. I reckon we'll have at least 10 years of the lefties contorted rage and insults. I say great whilst they concentrate on the production and distribution of bile they wont ever get round the the idea of making themselves electable once more.

There was a time not so very long ago when folk were questioning whether the right would ever get back in power. A week is a long time in politics. 5 to 10 years is forever.
I don’t think that they will achieve electability in my lifetime Tora,
Maybe if I could make it to the year 2060,
Anyway happy new year to you,

cheers jordy HNY to you too.
Not if they continue in the direction they've been following. Their first step should be to acknowledge that their brand of politics is one that few want - and with good reason - but with Momentum at the helm and the rest of them in denial I can't see that happening. Therefore, for the foreseeable future, they are dead ducks.
Yes.

Or no. I don't know really.
Agree with much of what's been already said, but - and there's always a but - should Boris prove to be just a one-trick pony by getting us out of the EU but seeing his policies harm the nation, then a more centric Labour party could, just could, upset one or two apple carts. In my most humble opinion, of course. Unless we experience the rigmarole of the last few years, the next election is 5 years away and that should be plenty of time for the opposition to re-assess their strategies and policies.

At least 5 is in the bag. That will do me & with such a comfortable majority real reforms are going to happen. This can be exiting stuff & Tory detractors will either have to accept it for at least that term, or be eaten up inside by anguish & a perceived martyrdom, bring it on!
The centre left could, but not the far left.

It all depends on two things. How Bojo does and how thoroughly Labour cleanse themselves of their internal problems.
Need to get rid of Corbyn as soon as. Get a decent leader, like Jess Phillips maybe.
Let’s see if Johnson keeps his promises, or at least tries to.

mozz: "It all depends on two things. How Bojo does and how thoroughly Labour cleanse themselves of their internal problems. " - I don't think they think they have any problems they are still deluding themselves and blaming the electorate.
Might depend if Boris manages a successful Get Brexit Done.
There was an interesting survey of what the election result would have been had particular age groups only voted.
Had 18-24 year olds only voted Labour would have been returned to office with 544 seats!
Had over 65s only voted then the Tories would have returned 575 seats!!
That is quite staggering.
If our population continues to age then the answer to the question may be “not for some time”

that's not surprising at all ich, it's well known that many people are socialist until they acquire assets.
I have friends who have assets, are fairly middle class to my way of thinking, but still vote Labour, go figure..
it's well known that many people are socialist until they acquire ***e$.

Seriously, maybe Miliband 2 can cut the American mustard for Labour.
So many other issues with Labour this time round than their left-wing manifesto. Their incoherent Brexit policy didn't help, for example. Nor did their leader. Nor did a refusal to join some kind of (informal) election pact, along the lines of Farage's capitulation, so that the Labour/Lib Dems didn't keep splitting the vote and stop each other from winning.

Paring back the manifesto would have made some difference, but would have been lost in the noise of all Labour's other myriad issues.
As soon as people realise that voting Tory and Brexit have not miraculously made them rich. Should take about two years. And Boris may not be dim but is certainly autistic.
It’s the scale of the difference tho Tora
"So many other issues..."
Indeed Jim360, and many taboo: Like where was the Magic Money Tree Farage was harvesting to be able to put up over 6OO candidates at the drop of a hat ?
After all the years pre EU Referendum vote discussing the diverse pros and cons, why was the backstop was 'discovered' on 8 November 2017 ( BY THE EU! ), 16 months AFTER the 23 June 2016 vote.
