as with all programming 90% of the cases are covered by 10% of the coding and vice versa. This one looks pretty good but it's the final 10% that gets exponentially more difficult to cater for. Then even if they get down to the final 0.1% of conditions that still equals death and destruction on a massive scale if the roads are full of them. That also assumes all the sensors are accurate and working at all times. I'll wait till it kills someone.
My view is that a properly programmed car is fairly safe. A properly alert human is fairly safe.
But expecting a human to remain alert and aware while a computer is "driving" is insane.
It's the combination that is dangerous- and will just get worse. People will naturally be hugely careful the first time they try one of these, and then get more and more blade about it. So the best stats we have, will be the first. Whoever wants this is perhaps more into tech, than people...
