as with all programming 90% of the cases are covered by 10% of the coding and vice versa. This one looks pretty good but it's the final 10% that gets exponentially more difficult to cater for. That also assumes all the sensors are accurate and working at all times. I'll wait till it kills someone.

Good answer TTT.

As a programmer I am with you on this. It was just a bit of mischievous fishing ;-)
...could it even be the best answer?
They have been "testing" it on the streets of Moscow and Tel Aviv so if it has killed someone we may not have heard TTT. Interesting that Tel Aviv was used as a test location. Do you think that the Israelis have some input on this project? Some clever bods amongst them.
leaving aside the tech for a minute, how is it insured?
Ultimately, the human driver version isn't bug free either. One can make too much of the final 19% or 1% or 0.1%. Question is whether it's better than the existing system.
My view is that a properly programmed car is fairly safe. A properly alert human is fairly safe.
But expecting a human to remain alert and aware while a computer is "driving" is insane.
It's the combination that is dangerous- and will just get worse. People will naturally be hugely careful the first time they try one of these, and then get more and more blade about it. So the best stats we have, will be the first. Whoever wants this is perhaps more into tech, than people...
